Adding Nismo to a Sport Model?

I am meeting with my Nissan guy next week to work a deal on a 2012 Sport. We have already agreed on a good number for my Trade-in, so I just have to pick out my Z. I am still 50/50 on 7AT or 6MT, but driving an AT should help me make up my mind. My questions are:

1) How is the quality of the Nismo strut/spring/sway bar combo + 20mm spacers? This car will be a second vehicle driven on the street only, but I like the slightly lowered stance. Adding these upgrades at delivery will keep the wife from asking too many questions. Ha ha.

2) How is the quality of the Nismo Catback? I plan to add Motordyne Test Pipes, Stillen Intakes, and Uprev. I know it has a high price tag, but does it perform/sound similar to other Aftermarket catbacks?

If no one sees any problems with this plan, I'll be rolling off the lot with a Base Sport with: Katzkin leather, Nismo Exhaust, and Nismo struts/springs/sways...Probably gonna be a 7AT.

Nismo Catback is almost just as quiet as stock. Most Nismo owners sell em and change them. You'll get better gains from other exhaust as well as sounds.

Ya, don't bother getting the Nismo catback. It's silent because they have to conform to Japanese noise emission standards. Get an aftermarket exhaust. Also the Nismo springs don't lower the car. I even read that it raised the front of the car very slightly from someone on here who swapped to Nismo springs.

Well crap. I have quite a bit of mod-money stashed from parting out my Titan. But I was hoping to knock as much out as possible at the dealership with my spouse being none the wiser. Oh well. I tried. What about sway bars? I don't read about too many people changing them out. I guess for a street car they would be a little overkill.

Have you driven one? The sport Z suspension and sport tuning is perfect for street driving. Nismo makes it slightly stiffer but you can make it equivalent to the Nismo yourself which you don't have to for normal driving.

I have only been on one test drive. It was a 6MT Base Sport and during afternoon traffic, so I didnt get to play around any.

It makes sense though. The car is known for its handling. The Sport package will probably handle better than I will ever need.

1) On the street my Nismo suspension performs great although a little rough on the shitty roads in my area. At AutoX though the understeer is annoying. Currently have a set of Eibach sway bars waiting to be installed to hopefully remedy the understeer.

2) Don't bother with the Nismo CBE. It's way too quiet for a proper sports car. Instead get a nice Fast Intentions CBE.
Also just skip the test pipes and get yourself a set of Long Tube Headers. :yum:

I would suggest you come out to aeros and autos this Saturday and talk to the Z owners that will be there. There will be a ton of experience parked out at Ellington this weekend.

Thanks man. But that's not really me. I just keep my car obsession to the Internet and my driveway. I've never been into the meets or shows.

You should get out to a meet man. It's a good experience for you especially a soon to be buyer. You will see all different set ups first hand. Z owners don't bite, as much as I'm aware of.

I've been pretty active on the Titan forums for a couple of years now, but I have never made it to a meet with them either. I've had to hear about it a few times over there too. Ha ha. My schedule and rug rats don't leave me with much spare time. When I get them all into school maybe I'll have a little more time for me.

you sound like your all over the place with what you want. hell you dont even know if you want a manual tranny or not.

20mm spacers in the stock nismo suspension will look like a 4x4. youll have to drop it some.

Well. I answered that question today. I drove a manual and an auto one after the other today...Auto it is. It felt stronger, and surprisingly, was more fun to drive. I think it's because I've never owned a car that could turn. The whole package with the auto was a blast to drive.
