2012 or 2013?

I've spent 2 weeks looking and thinking. Apparently 2012's are no longer being made. But I haven't yet been able to pin down some things about the 2013's:

- If I order a 2013, will there be a delay (i.e., are they actually making 2013's yet)?

- I have heard that the price increase was minimal, although some dealers claim otherwise (I expect because they'd rather sell a 2012 right now).

Price: I'm looking at a 370Z Coupe/Touring/Sports/Automatic, and I've been told around $41K on that for a 2012, without taking into account bargaining that would take place, or internet pricing. I would expect about $2K to come off that. Is this in the ballpark?

Thanks.

seems high actually... the closer you get to the release of the 13s the better deal you should get on the 12s

the production line will take a month or so to switch over to the new model - availability will be August at the earliest for the 13s.

MacLean 04-17-2012 06:13 PM

You need to also remember that right now until 4/30/12 you can get 0% interest up to 60months on a '12 Z & 2.99% interest on 72 months. When '13 hits the market you will pay sticker for awhile.

RUFFSTUFF 04-17-2012 09:13 PM

I went for the 12 and I'm not looking back....

LakeShow 04-17-2012 09:34 PM

You cant go wrong with either.

bdavis89 04-17-2012 09:45 PM

2013 is ugly.

Trust us you will get a kick arse deal on a '12............. At the end of the day it is what you want....be smart & way the pros & cons.

FairladyZ 04-18-2012 02:25 AM

I just picked one up...

2012 touring, sports, illuminated kickplates, carpeted floor mats, navi, 6 speed, splash guards, rear view mirror.

Pretty much all the options

39800... + ttl. I still feel like i got ripped even though its below invoice of truecar.com. Got the 0%. I think i could of squeezed maybe another grand or so.. but i was getting tired, and this dealer is the only one in like 100 miles with a white one that i wanted.

Sticker was 43120 or something like that.....

troubadour 04-18-2012 10:35 AM

OK- thanks to all for the input. If we decide to take the plunge it looks like we should be thinking 2012.

Yes it makes sense at this point. 0% and also you can find them while it may be a while for a 13'.

I think the 09-12 looks more aggresive, but I like the LED foglight strips

Z-Girl 12 04-18-2012 09:40 PM

just jumped on a 2012 and not looking back...2013 pics were not appealing at all. Front bumper yuk...LEDs weren't enough to make me wait. Happy shopping, either way you will be in a hot ride

how much did you pay?

Z-Girl 12 04-19-2012 06:34 AM

True Car was $39,984, dealer barely budged at $39,604. 0% financing, he knew I wasn't going anywhere. I was fully aware of 2012 inventory dwindling and I wasn't budging on my specifics. Blk/Blk/Nav/Tourging/Sport/Manual no illuminated kick plate though but some overpriced wheel locks LOL. There was only two in the region and one of them didn't have navigation so I bit. I don't regret it though.:driving:

I am totally happy. 2013 was not an option for me.

troubadour 04-19-2012 03:37 PM

Best quote I've gotten so far is $40.5K (invoice) on MSRP vehicle of just over $44K. It has Nav, which I didn't really need but the particular combination of features and colors isn't as available as much without the Nav. What d'y'all think? (This is a Coupe/AT/Touring/Sport/Nav.)

Not bad..... At the end of the day it is your money. You are saving 3,500k on the car, so why not. Is the color you want & does it have the items you want inside? If so then get the SOB before someone else gets it.

I paid 39,800 for the same package basically as yours + ttl.

Sticker was 43K and some change.... So basically tax was saved...

LOL not really...you got the better deal. You got kick plates and splash guards. I just had to buy some splash guards off a member:bowrofl:

I finished talking to various sources, gave time for a couple of others to respond (who didn't so I ignored them in the end), and this morning told the dealer I would take the $40,583 deal (MSRP 44,090). So guess things are on the way, pending any potential glitches.

Thanks to all for the input.

RUFFSTUFF 04-20-2012 03:41 PM

Took me a week to get through the break-in (on the odometer that is, this car was broken in day one technically!) and I LOVE THIS CAR! It's very weird though, getting out of it and driving my truck...

Did the Deed, Made the Deal

Well I got the car. A little twist along the way: I had pinged 3 of the dealers that are supporters of this forum. Turns out that 2 of them located the same car, at a 3rd dealership. After getting the same offer from the two of them, I told the first one that I would like to go ahead and do the deal. Then the dealer that had the car wouldn't let it go. Eventually I discovered who the dealer with the car was and talked to them directly (I would have been happy to buy it through the one I had told "Let's go" but they couldn't deliver due to the 3rd party dealer's obstinance.

Anyway, I ended up getting another $500 off the price. So I got it for $40,083 (500 less than invoice - I have a copy of the invoice) where the MSRP was $44,090. So I think I did OK.

I flew down to California (location of the dealers and the car) and picked it up, driving it home to Salt Lake City yesterday and today. I'm happy with it and it is a great pleasure to drive.

QUESTION: (maybe belongs on another section but I'm not that familiar with the landscape here yet): At what point do you think the rear spoiler deck and the front underneath "lip" (or whatever that scoop is called that drags bottom on the nose when you go into a driveway) actually have an effect on stability? I don't expect to do any race or performance driving, and I"m wondering how much I need those. At least I'd like to dump that scoop under the nose.

Finally I got my 2011 NISMO Z® from a local dealer. Its a slightly used and I paid only $34150 which is good enough for me. Actually I replaced it with my 2009 GT-R base and had a great deal. I sold out my GT-R for $44560 and saved about $10000 which is pleasant for me to have a new ride without spending more.

WOW...... Hmmmm..... Went from a '09 GT-R to a '11 Nismo. I would think it would be the other way around. I know for me it would definitely be the other way around.

Well....... Welcome & congrats on your purchase. Glad to see that you decided to stay in the Nissan family.

What made you decide to trade in your '09 GT-R? What would you say that you did & didn't like about it?

GT-R is a good looking car but heavy on the budget. I have to use it everywhere and NISMO z is economical to me with a great performance.

I can see heavy on the budget w/o a doubt, but the Nismo being more economical maybe. It is all how you drive big guy. You had a great car & you still have a great car.

I love the 2 new colors of the 13 Z's but I cant get past the front end of the new car. I like the mean looks on the current Z's. If they woulda just tossed more colors, I think it could have sold much better! I might be able to get over the ugly front end if they woulda bumped the HP to 350 stock but they didnt so no point. Buy a used one and repaint it to save money haha.

FairladyZ 05-01-2012 03:32 AM

they should of just integrated LED's into the current bumper lol

Id ont know, i myself also decided against a 13 because of the 350 look
