Looking into trading in mustang for 2012 or used Z

Hey guys, might be looking to coming back to the Z world. I traded in my 2008 350z for a 2011 Gt500 and might be looking to coming back. Just wanted to get some input from you guys on a price. I found a 2012 Nismo in black for 38,600. I believe this is invoice pricing, but wanted to see what others were getting them for. Im not dead set on a new nismo, but would also do a low mileage used one. Currently what I am finding is anywhere between $35,999-37,980. The 37,980 is for a 2011 with 2k miles, and at that price I may as well go new. The cheaper ones I have found are 2009's with 5k miles or more and have some slight mods on them which makes me hesitant to purchasing due to the unknown history of the car.

Nice cars! I have to ask, why the desire to get back inot a Z and out of the GT500?

The $38,xxx price seems alright to me. I agree that when the slightly used price is so close to the new price, better to get the new one.

You should try Deland Nissan's Internet Sales dept. Ask for Rigo or Ken. I've purchased quite a few Z etc from those guys there and they're very fair.

Honestly I love the GT500. Its comfortable, fast as hell, and has not given me any trouble except the occasional 2nd gear grind. It was exactly what I was looking for in a car when I made the switch. I wanted something fast and cheaper to mod. One of the major reasons is I want a sports car with a lower payment. Right now even if I could save 100 a month I would do it just for the sake of it. We can afford to keep the car, but the mustang community lacks in many places where the Z community shines. I miss all the cruises and BBQ's with the south florida z club, and I actually miss my old z. Theres just something about the styling and feel of the car that the mustang lacks. And I have also come to realize that unless you drag race every weekend, 550hp really has no bearing on my way to work, and with having my law enforcement certification Im in no position to race on the street. Ive looked at every other 30k sports car and none of them do it for me like the Z. Maybe Im crazy because I know most here who leave the Z end up with the mustang due to the cheaper HP gains, but the Z has a special something the mustang just doesn't have. Even the salesman at the dealer kept commenting on how I was trading in his dream car for a Z. :/

/\ all very solid reasons for the switch back to the Z. Good luck man, I hope you get a great deal on the Nismo you're eyeing.

Thank you, I hope so too. Haven't had the best of luck yet but I'll call Deland. If they know you by name I'll say you recommended them. Just need to know your name lol.

Hey man, I remember your old Z back when I had a 350 on my350z. It was one of my favorite Zs on the forum!

Everything you said reminds me of my recent situation. I actually lost my 350 in an accident almost a year ago. I purchased a 2011 Evo X shortly after and drove it for about 7 months. it was a lot faster and easier to mod, but it lacked the sexiness, quality and the community the Z has. And like you said about your mustang, I just didn't have any use for the power since it was my DD and didn't see track time. I traded it in for a 370 around thanksgiving and haven't looked back. It's not nearly as fast as my stage 2 Evo was but it honestly doesn't matter. I'm so much happier getting into my 99% stock Z than I ever was in the Evo!

Btw, this car might be worth looking in to...

^ The dealers I have spoken to thus far have been actually giving me more than blue book on my trade so I may stick to a dealer sale just to save on the tax break and hassle of selling it on my own and waiting for someone to come up with the money. Ideally I would love to have the white pearl nismo. Every car I have owned has been black and I think I would like a change. But if a deal on a MB Z comes through I wont say no...lol

And I hear you about the Evo. All the cars in the 30k range just dont have the style and quality of the Z. In another year or two the gt500 will be less than the nismo at its current depreciation rate.

Right on. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. Unless a major upgrade happens in a year or two, this will likely be my last Z (which I plan on keeping). I'm paying this one down/off - keeping it relatively stock, and saving my pennies to buy a GTR 2-3 years from now (just like "everyone" else on here lol). At least that's the plan anyway haha.

Still on the hunt... :/

Man that gt500 is so sick! My cousin has a 2009 California special (there are pics in my albums. )I've been telling him to trade in on a new one. Any way good luck on finding a z man! I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything right now! Nismos are awesome! Best of luck! Not trying to be nosey at all so don't answer if you don't want, but how much are you trying to get for your gt500?

sfearl1 01-19-2012 08:56 AM

so you got one!

TheOtherRob 01-19-2012 09:12 AM

Yup got one! Lol

I was looking for 44k for the stang but I didn't get that on the trade in, but it was very close to it. Edmunds trade in value was 39k and I got way more than that so I'm very happy. Saving around 200 a month between payment and insurance.
