More wiggle-room over winter?

I'm dealing with a new dealership right now, working out prices and whatnot. He (internet sales manager) actually raised the price on me from our last talk about two weeks ago :shakes head: When I asked him about it, he told me it was because they order substantially fewer 370z over winter, and thus the price rises.

Perhaps I'm crazy, but I was pretty convinced I was opening myself up to greater bargaining power by shopping around now. Poor choice on my part?

:bowrofl::icon18: Sorry, but that's funny!

I wouldn't give in to that
Usually quotes are good for around 30 days or so anyway...

Haha prices should be cheaper in winter. How many people looking to buy a 2dr Sports car RWD in winter with freezing temps and inclement weather. Typically these cars are sold better in warmer months.

The internet sales manger is a fool akwardturtle, a fool!
Now is actually one of the best times to buy a car.
Do what I did - go to 3-4 dealerships get printouts, bring them to other dealerships, and let them price match.

I brought over a quote for base+sport and I ended up getting base+sport+TOURING for close to the same price

:icon17: Prices should be going down for RWD sports cars in the winter. When I was still shopping for mine, I made the dealership an offer that was $1k less than what they listed and they refused. A couple days later there was news of a snow storm coming that weekend so they dropped the price by $2k. I was there that Saturday to pick it up, right when it started to snow :p

lies... rwd cars cost more in the winters and 4x4 trucks cost less :-P

Yup, bringing in a written/printed quote always helps, thats what I did as well.

As far as what the dealer is saying, he may just be seeing if you are serious. Or maybe he figured out that you are not serious, and doesn't want to prolong the conversation, so he ups the price to put you off. Going in and talking in person is the best negotiation process. If that is what you are doing, and he still has the same response then move to another dealer, you will probably end up wasting each others time.

People are more worried about getting xmas presents rather than buy a car during the winter times. I call :bs:

You guys make assumptions that are not universally true.

"Go to three or four dealerships"? In many places, like here, there is one dealership. The next nearest Nissan dealers are each 100 miles away. In opposite directions.

"Order fewer cars in winter"? In this local Nissan dealership they rarely even have a Z on the floor. Even in summer. They'll order a Z for you anytime you want, but they don't have a bunch of Z's sitting around that they're motivated to move at fire sale prices.
