Loosely read over this thread, one thing I'll mention though is basically trust nothing anyone there says. Finance manager tried to claim that I couldnt do any better than 4.99% financing on my Z, and that he can beat all the banks. I got the loan for 2.75% from the biggest credit union in my state. They really are scumbags and I dont see how anyone could do this for a living. I wouldnt even be surprised if I found out the dealership actually did get me at 2-3% APR, and just marked it up to 5% and pocketed the difference himself somehow.
I've seen it posted before, that you should really just go into a dealership with a check for the total cash value of the car you intend on paying, which basically removes the entire finance dept from the equation. Now it's just you vs the salesmen trying to get the price you want. My uncle has a nice little story about his most recent car puchase. He walks into the dealer, finds the car that he wants, looks at the price, and tells them "I am going to buy this vehicle outright in full with cash right now. You have one, I repeat one chance to give me a price you think I want to buy it for. No second chances, no negotiating, you get one opportunity to give me a price for this car to drive off the lot from a cash purchase. If I dont like your offer, I am walking out the door, there will be no second chances". Supposedly got a 40k truck for something like 30k. I think I will try this next time :) |

I was told the same thing and turned out. Went to the dealer that promised said deal last weekend and they slashed some more. 2011 370Z Base A7 with Sports PKG $31250 OTD taxes etc... including 3 year oil changes. Finance was 1.99% 60month had I wanted to go that way. Only $1250 over what I paid for my '04 Base with Manual tranny SEVEN years ago. Glad to be back in a Z. The 1.99%was a special deal they had going with local bank. They said no one could touch it but, that 2.99% / 60mo. was available through Nissan if I wanted. I can hardly wait to drive into my local dealer and show them the car. Not sure if I'm going to be so rude and to show the Sales Mgr though because he actually showed me the invoice and all. Opinion - First dealer didn't want to give my some of there holdback (bonus $'s Nissan gives them for selling quantity.) Oh yes, I milked it and pressured it for all it was worth !!!! At the end .... They were my best friends. During the process... not so much.:stirthepot: |
One thing I'll say made the biggest advantage for me, was getting the dealers into a bidding war. When they think you're the only person they're actively talking to they dont really care to do **** to win your business. But as soon as they find out another dealer is actively offering you better pricing right there on the spot via cell phone, the **** hits the fan. I'm by no means a car buying expert as one could tell from my other threads, however I instantly saw the dealers ignite as soon as I was getting phone calls and saying "ok they just offered me $500 lower" etc etc. It's like they were clamoring to get my business. I still got a pretty average deal all said and done, people here are crushing what I was offered, but at least I know what to do next time.

So this is the same one you almost bought before?

Yes it is. Went to other dealers and they seemed to rip me off. So 3-4 weeks since that incident I went in that dealer, found out that finance manager got fired. I spoke to the manager and my salesman who was nice to me since the beginning and got the deal done. When I walked in they almost seemed excited. Anyways I got an awesome deal(way below invoice) they through in a Z trunk mat(my car didn't have), an extra pair of Z floor mats, tints, 1st year maintenance and 4 years worth of oil changes. Also they are taking it to a body shop when I bring it back for tints to clean up the little scratches and marks.

lake,
care to share what you paid for the car? I'm looking at a touring+sport (manual) and was curious what deals they are offering considering 2012's are right around the corner. |
