I just fought with dealer and got a deal.

Okay. I am thinking to trading in my car and my car is 2008 g37s with 36,000 miles on it. Yeah I know, I drove that car a lot. Well, I wanted black/black grand touring 370z with sports and nav in 7A/T. With trading, I need to pay 13,000 more. Is this a good deal? They asked me 15,000 at first and I got it down to 13,000. I hope I made good decision. Please let me know. Thanks.

The best way to look at this is breaking it down:

~What price did they give for your current car?
~What is the price of the 370z? Without TTL

spia 05-05-2009 04:52 PM

They paid 27,000 for my car and car price is around 38,000

Next couple of questions:

~What options/model? Base/Touring, manual/automatic, etc.
~Was the G37 fully paid off, what is happening with that loan if there is one.

I bought 370z grand touring with sports and nav package in 7A/T

My g37s was fully equiped and I bought that car so no loans.

Sorry I missed that part that you listed it was an auto, and such.
A touring with navi/auto plus all accessories costs about 38,500 so depending on if a certain accessory was not added (say splash guards), it looks like a solid deal. Either very close to invoice or below almost.

Hi Spia, quick question, why the change from 2008 G37 to 2009 Nissan 370z? I am debating on buying a new 2008 brand new G37 fully loaded or the 2009 Nissan 370z (love both). The thing leaning me towards the G37 is the ability to get the dealer to cut the price aggresively and the 2.9% APR, but dang I love the style of the 370z. DO you think 2009 G37's are being discounted by dealers these days?

shumby 05-05-2009 10:22 PM

Vman. If you are looking at the G37 08 vs 09 the only advantage to getting the 09 would be if you are going with the AT cuz the 7AT rockes compared to the 5at in the 08.

I know this cuz iI had both an 08 5AT crashed it and got an 09 &at an wow i like it better. NOw if you are going 6MT i would deff get the 08 only 2 things changed. the interior door handles are washi on the 09 and you get dials instead of switchs for your heated seats. The washi door handels are reall nice as the 08 ones scratched easy but they can be bought from the dealer for like $100

vman 05-05-2009 10:35 PM

Thanks Shumby! I was going to get the 2008 5AT until you informed me of that, now its the 2009 G37 vs the 2009 370Z. I test drove the 370Z, I guess life could be worse. Shumby did you move to the 2009 370Z? If not do you plan on it or are you perfectly happy with the G?

shumby 05-05-2009 10:40 PM

I am very happy with my G. love it to bits. ANd plan on a TT in 2 years. I am looking at getting the Z for the wife but that will be in 2010. She will have to deal with the 2003 Maxima until then.

Well in my situation. I was thinking put tt on my g37s or get new 370z. I went to car show on last week and I saw a 135i with dyno sheet. It had 300 hp and 370 tq. G37s comes with 290hp and 240 tq on dyno in average with stock and I saw some guy did tt on g37s and he had 400+ hp but awful tq. In my opinion, tq is more important on the streen than hp unless you go to track. g37s was my daily driving car and if I put tt on my g37s, I need to left my car at the shop for at least 3month which is not going to work for me so.. I chose 370z. Also, I don't really have any family or friends to give a ride. It's just me and my girlfriend so 370z is my choice.

Also, 370z comes with 7A/T. My g37s was 5A/T and I felt like 5A/T was kinda less gear for 320 hp. I test drove 7A/T and I really like it. If you want to get g37s then get 09. No doubt.

well it looks like I have chosen the 370z or bust, I want the 7AT Touring in PG with Sports Package, splash guards, but I am afraid to begin this whole car negotiation process. I really do not want to pay over $35,000 for this car, what do you guys think? Are the leather seats really that much of an upgrade over the cloth interior? The reason I'm asking is because I plan on putting in my own navi with back up camera, intake and exhaust after I purchase the car.

I am still debating if leather seats are really that important to me. How did you guys decide, or was it a easy decision? Thanks for everyone's input.

I think it worth it especially on 370z. The thing with leather seat is suade. I love it. It's on driver's and passenger's door panel and on leather seat too. I really love it. I think you should get it.

nogoodname 05-11-2009 08:35 AM

don't forget about the special clear coat thing Nissan has now.

Do you guys then think I can get a 370Z for $35,000 with a sports package WITHOUT Navi? What is on the door panel if its not a Tour model?

ChrisSlicks 05-11-2009 11:11 AM

It's about $31K (and change) for a base w/sport, and others have paid around $35K for touring w/sport (no nav).

The base has a stretch fabric material on the doors, actually looks pretty good.

370Z_Fan 05-11-2009 02:14 PM

What special clear coat?

Mrabyss 05-11-2009 03:30 PM

I highly doubt you'll get a touring sport without Navi for 35,000. Invoice on that car is around 35,500. That said when my dad and I bought ours mine was a non touring sport for 31,700 and his was a touring sport for 35,500 sticker prices were ~33,000 and 38,500 respectively. You may be able to make up some of the difference on the extended warranty if you opt for that. The more you buy the better chance your gonna be able to get more off the car. Non touring sports have cloth seats and door inserts instead of the suede that the touring sports have in the doors and the power leather seats. I just wish I could have gotten leather with the non Bose radio.....but alas thats not an available package.

vman 05-11-2009 05:41 PM

mrabyss,

the seats aren't even all leather are they? I think part of the seat is that suede/alcantara stuff and same with the inside of the doors. My wife keeps telling me to get the one with leather seats, but then again she isn't the one that is going to pay the car note.

thanks for the input!

Mrabyss 05-11-2009 06:41 PM

Yeah the parts you actually sit in aren't leather. I like the leather/suede and the cloth. The cloth isn't quite as nice but I couldn't do the stereo I wanted with the leather since leather automatically gets you Bose. Bose is like a virus and it integrates into everything. Shops charge extra just to remove the system let alone install the one you want. All in all I am happy with the cloth I have and the awesome stereo with nav/ipod/dvd/kitchen sink.

vman 05-11-2009 06:48 PM

Mrabyss thanks for the info, I do not want the Bose then because, like you I plan on just installing everything separate. I didn't know about the shops charging more to take out the old system, good thing to know. Thanks!

tt370z 05-11-2009 09:07 PM

I have my deal base with sport package at 31k even

I doubt you'll get that car for $35,000...

Here are the invoice (not MSRP) prices for what you listed above:

370Z Touring Coupe w/7AT - $33,122
Sport Package - $2,602
Splash Guards - $165
Destination Charges - $720

Total Invoice Price - $36,609

The price you want to pay ($35,000) is 4.4% under invoice... Don't think that's gonna happen...

They are two totally different vehicles. I originally thought the same when I got my 350Z; but the G37 is designed differently ..different suspension set-up etc. the G37 is geared toward luxury, while the 370Z is geared towards performance. Make you choice.....but choose wisely.
