2010 base w/sports from another dealer, Can they do better?

Went to my local dealer and I told them I wanted a 2010 PG 6spd w/sports. They don't have any and neither does anyone in my state. So they need to get one for me 300 miles away. They won't budge from 32,300 (about 200 over invoice) saying they don't like to lose money on cars they need to get. This price is not incuding the tax.

They are however giving me a great great price on my trade in though. I also thought I could save getting a 2010 over a 2011

Now I've been stalking this site for a long time and know this is not a good deal on a 2010. If the car was on their lot, I know things would be different. So, can they really do better on the price if there getting the car from another dealer 300 miles away?

What would be the cost of the fuel/time differences to go to said dealership 300 miles away to get the car cheaper v. the few grand you could save by doing this?

If you have a day to kill, and are willing to make the drive. I would go to whever that car is and purchase from that dealership. Call them up and see if they are willing to deal at all on the price. If they come down to around where you are wanting, then I would make the trip.

Just my thought. Good luck regardless!

Thanks for the fast response! I agree with you, however I'm trading in my rsx and that makes that a little harder to do.

I got my Z through Costco's auto purchase plan. Got a fair price and zero hassle. Maybe that might be an option for you.

Call the 2nd dealer and be straight up with the sales manager. Tell him how much you're being offered on your trade, what you want to pay, etc. See if he can make it happen. If so, then take a personal day from work and go get your new baby!

Ok, now thats not a bad idea. However no ones really answered my question about can a dealer go lower on a car it has to get.

You are asking a question that no one can't answer simply because they are not the sale manager. :) Going down on price is the manager's decision. Even though the true value is what ppl are telling. He just might be a beitch and won't accept that price.

How do I know? I'm in the same boat.

Exactly. The guy could sell every car on the lot for a $1, and accept some of that Zebra chewing gum as trade ins BUT whoever cuts his paycheck won't be happy, and he'll be out of a job quick.

Sell your Rex to car max if there is one in the area. Removes the trade issue and frees you up to go get better deal in person.

Houston is selling 2010 base, manual for 27000 w/o sport package. I know they had a few with different options though.

Update---Salesman called me today and I told him I didn't want the car if I have to pay 1500-2000 more then what everybody else is paying for a 2010. So we left it at that. Then I recieved a call from the manager an hour later saying he would try to work with me. So, I guess I answered my own question. My problem now is the gf is pissed so I have to work on her now too. ugh
