No Order Allocations For July? Double Crap!

As you may have seen in this thread....

http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-p...roduction.html

I'm having difficulty actually ordering a car.

I was excited to have 2 of the 7 dealers I am in touch with call me over the weekend to tell me they could "probably" order me a car on Tuesday. Knowing how this could end I didn't get too excited.

Well, my bad luck with this sort of thing came to pass. The first most honest dealer called me and told me it was a no go, that they didn't get an allocation, and they were seriously frustrated. The second dealer I actually visited yesterday, and they said, yeah, we can order one for you today. Then I started talking to them about having an actual Nissan allocation and they started fidgeting a bit. They told me they would get in the computer after lunch, look things up, then give me a call. Guess, what, no call.

So just like the other 5 dealers that were more than willing to take my order with them, nobody has an actual allocation to actually order a car. Dealers expect the mass public to be totally ignorant on how car ordering actually takes place. When someone like me walks in talking allocations they seriously don't like it. It's a bit amusing actually.

Basically, there are zero July allocations available, well, at least not down here in Southwest Ohio. What about the rest of the country? Anyone have actual proof they got a car ordered yesterday? Dealer verbal "oh yeah no problems" don't count, because that does not mean Nissan has an order.

Any input you can provide is welcomed.

Thanks ---- Bonzo

I dont have any helpful info for you, but I'll be watching this post to see what replies you get. I'm in the same boat, looking to order a Z, but no luck in hearing back on allocations.

If you happen to hear of anything in OH, let me know...

Sorry to hear there is another Ohioan in the same boat.

I will keep both these threads active until I can order a car, you bet.

I wish there was a Nissan rep on this forum that could give us some firm information. I know the tsunami F'ed things up, but waiting month to month only to get rejected is frustrating for sure. I can only guess Nissan themselves doesn't even know.

Again, we have "heard" that 2012 models aren't changing, which is what I want. I love the car the way it (minor mods planned), so I certainly don't want different wheels or added chrome crap or the other usual things Nissan does 3-4 years in. Until I see 2012 models are unchanged, I'll be nervous about it. :ugh:

This kind of bad luck is normal for me with big purchases. My wife used to think I was just pessimistic, but now after being together for 14 years, she knows it's not me, that it truly is bad luck. I have good luck with other stuff, but not this.

No dealership here will order 11's nor do they show any allocation for July. No dealership here will order 12's yet. All say Navigation is not available on 12's.

I have been getting the runaround since June on when the 2012s will be available. Normally this is something dealerships know off the top of their head. Lots of doubletalk and non-commital responses. I've tried 3 dealerships in NW Maryland and no luck so far.

(Yes I know it's a bit early but generally speaking, you can factory order in late august for delivery late sept/early oct)

Edit: I am still mystified as to why color selections and options are *heavily* limited on the NISMO trim. Spoke to my stereo guy today and he's not pleased he's going to have to go through the ordeal of taking that dash off again.

New models start arriving, the earliest, January of the new year for the Z. Mostly likely dealerships who get first shot at the 2012 will not be able to order until Oct/Nov time frame.

You guys don't think that the tsunami had an affect on production? Couple a limited production capability with shortages of some paints and parts, and factor in the sales potential of the 3-year-old Z compared to more profitable and bigger-selling models in the Nissan lineup, and I don't understand why anyone is surprised that it isn't business as usual at Nissan these days.

I'll bet that the dealers are getting the runaround from Nissan too. Likely they're not giving you the straight story because they don't know the straight story.

Maybe Maryland is just lucky but in both 2010 and 2011 I've seen the new models popping up *in dealerships* September-ish both years meaning you can probably order one prior to that.

Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted.

Crazy this thread ended up here at this moment. I ordered my car and they took my order just fine. Now I'm getting the runaround and they are offering me alternatives. I'm pretty pissed off right now because the alternatives do not meet 100% of what I'm looking for. I'm about to request my $500 deposit back.

That's neither here nor there. Its about being lied to. If you ask can I order my car? And the response is yes with no explanations of why there will be delays and such. Then you expect for things to work fine.
If there are issues with ordering? Then we expect the dealership to be "HONEST" with us on the ordering of our cars. These cars are costing nearly 40k or more. We deserve the minimal common courtesy of honesty for our money.

You are feeling the same pissed off feeling the dealerships are.
They are/were being told orders would be fine, but now they are being cancelled or postponed. It sucks and I agree some communication is key, but even Nissan Japan is not 100% sure what is going on. Things will not be 100% until next year probably.

^^ This ^^. I don't think the dealers know. Unknown's anger is misplaced, although his frustration is certainly understandable. Tsunami's are a bitch, huh?

poorazn 07-11-2011 07:16 AM

forget about 'custom' orders, have any dealership even received any new 370z from port since post-tsunami?? The dealerships' inventories around me are drying up...

Brutal 370Z 07-11-2011 07:56 AM

I received confirmation from my dealer that my car is actually being built right now. Its on the assembly line as we speak. They're expecting delivery first week of August. They placed my custom order during the June allocation. But this may have something to do with the fact that I was already on a waiting list since March so as soon as the first allocation became available, mine was the first order to be placed. My guess is that you're on a waiting list as well and maybe Nissan can't take all the orders at once? Just a guess.
