Over 90 day order time - Dealer telling the truth?

Hows it going,

To make it short, I ordered my Z March 09, with a guaranteed arrival of 60 days so it could get here before my graduation. They have never really been in contact with me until I called the other day and a general sales lady talked to me. She said late June is when I could expect it which is over 90 days. I later called back my sales rep and he got to the bottom of it.

He said the car was ordered March 09, the day I gave them my down payment. However he said the color combo I wanted is on back order and is scheduled for a May 1st production date.

For those of you with this experience, once the car hits "production day" does that mean another 60-90 days? The sales rep said mid June is the earliest, with late June being the latest. To me it sounds like they forgot to order it, but that could be just because I really want to start drivin it haha.

Thanks,
rob

Did you get your VIN number?

I believe once you get your VIN, it means your car in production. Not sure how long it will take, but you should have a confirm date when the car will be here when you get your VIN.

nogoodname 04-14-2009 10:42 AM

what colour combo did you pick??

once you get that VIN # it should be built already.

Ct Chip 04-14-2009 10:47 AM

I ordered mine February 2nd, dealer ordered and rec'd confirmation from Nissan on Feb 6th. I rec'd an email with the VIN number in early April - car is due here around the 29th of May. It's a much longer lead time than I was told from several of the dealers I shopped.

I ordered my yellow on jan 7th still not here, i went to another dealer and got the pearl white, like it better same package:tup:

Wow that's some **** they are pulling on you bro...
If I were you I'd complain and get something out of this.
I HATE it when people talk the talk but cant walk the walk.
If I were you I'd wear a black mask and **** up the salesmen who sold the car to me at night.
But that's just me!

I got CS with Orange SP + N.

The dealer told me once they have the VIN, it means the car is being built so will know the ship date. (I might be wrong).

Ordered about 1 month ago, first they told me end of May early June.

After 2 weeks, they said late April.

Now back to end of May early June.

Wouldn't believe the date they are telling me, more concern about the VIN.

robtrink 04-14-2009 11:11 AM

color combo

I ordered a fully loaded touring nav sport platinum graphite with the orange interior.

You have the same time frame and situation as me, let me know how it goes! the only difference is they dont email or call me, I have to call them! I would love them to e-mail me and update me on what is going on. He said he e-mailed nissan yesterday and is trying to get my VIN number and order number, I will let you know how it goes.

Remember everyone, Nissan is slowing down production of these cars due their sales forecasts being slashed. This is really going to hurt anyone with custom builds as the cycle time between models/colors will now be longer.

My thoughts all along. I'm just waiting patiently - sort of LOL.

nogoodname 04-14-2009 12:11 PM

it's to be expected, but if you got the VIN #....in writing i mean, not just the dealer saying they have it...that means it's coming soon

CrownR426 04-14-2009 01:25 PM

That's ******** though...
I feel bad for our homie, they keep stalling on him.
Messed up.

robtrink 04-14-2009 05:31 PM

haha

:iagree:thanks for all the support, i thought i might have been too demanding or sounding a little impatient. I mean, I really want to drive the car asap, it sucks having to wait, especially when we sat down the guy guaranteed me it would be here at maximum, 60 days, just before my graduation.

He never did call me back with a VIN today either:shakes head:

CrownR426 04-14-2009 05:37 PM

What a douchebag...
If I were you I'd be furious bro!
I would've gone there ready for a fight seriously...
He basically lied infront of you and you parents.
Guarantee my ***. A real saleman I guess.
You should keep leaving him messages to make him scared though!

Mine was ordered Feb 1 and is due the last week in May. Be patient but I agree they should have never guaranteed anything that is completely out of their control and should alway respond to your inquiries. I am not counting the days to delivery, but how may salesman get laid off before my delivery. I am now on my third salesman and the GM calls every now and then to check in. Desperate time calls for desperate measures.

spiderman 04-14-2009 07:56 PM

I ordered mine February 7th and was told it will take about 10 weeks (end of April). They said it takes 45 days after your order to get a VIN and build date. With Nissan slowing production, I'm sure mine will come in around the end of May now. Ordering a Stillen Catback and Stillen G3 CAI to keep me busy for when it comes in. More time to break in my new Titleists and decide if I'm taking my Z west or south for my roadtrip. Good luck bro!

Z on Order

Because of this thread I called my dealer yesterday to confirm that mine was still on schedule. It was ordered April 3rd and is scheduled to arrive mid June. They did have an allocation for a car so I am not sure if that helped things. I ordered it in PG with the Perm interior and fully loaded. My dealer did say that he had two other dealers already call and try to buy the car from him. Considering it is still snowing here in Reno I don't mind the two month wait.

robtrink 04-15-2009 01:06 PM

Crap

Well thats crap. Did they call nissan and find things out or how did it work? Just wondering so i can offer suggestions to my rep.

Also, did you even get a vin number yet?

Bobba Booey 04-15-2009 01:34 PM

When you guys make an order do you get a purchase order form? If so, does it say what the delivery time will be?

They did not have the vin# yet but he said that he was looking at the order and the delivery status was still 6/09. He had not heard anything about production being delayed. I have a personal relationship with this sales manager so I don't think he was BS'ing me. But who knows. If the car shows up in June we know there was no delay.

The VIN # probably will be available when the car is ready to be shipped.

I ordered mine same day 4/3 -- Red base + sport with mats, splash guards, illuminated kick plates

No updates yet. I was told sometime in June. I received an order sheet when it was placed with order number and ETA said: June 09. Not sure if that is something the dealer typed in or that came from Nissan...

I hope mine doesn't get pushed back.:shakes head:

If the order form says ETA then they are not bound to that date because it's only an estimate. All you can do is hope for the best. I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

sensi09 04-17-2009 12:21 PM

Along with production cuts, I'd be weary if the dealer ran out of allocation at the time being, so they might take your down payment and make you wait a bit longer.

ENT-Z 04-18-2009 02:38 PM

Well, I checked in with my salesman for what it's worth and he said the order went through fine and to expect the car the first week of June (ordered 4/3). Keeping fingers crossed!

scorpion90 04-18-2009 07:40 PM

Gave my dealer a down payment of 2k on 1/17 with the discussion for the car to be delivered late March or early April. On March 8, I got a confirmation call that the proper configuration was to be built that I had ordered. On Friday 4/17 my dealer let me know that he has a VIN# and the car is "on the water" to the US. He said it takes one and a half to two weeks to clear port and then is loaded on truck to the dealer. He thought I would get mine around the middle to late May. A little later than I wanted, but I guess not bad considering economic situation and Nissan cutbacks. Needless to say, I have been sitting on pins and needles and am getting pretty excited. Maybe I'm getting more for my money this way with the slow build up to receiving it.

WShade 04-18-2009 10:46 PM

$2K? They only asked me for $250. And, $1K when I ordered my G.

Got a purchase order with mine stating everything including all costs. But NO promised delivery date. There was a statement that the cost could be increased if NISSAN had a quarterly model increase.

mjd77 04-22-2009 09:35 AM

Probably just another salesman tactic to do/say anything they think you want to hear to get the sale. Personally Im not too familiar of how the special ordering works but Im willing to guess it is pretty much out of the dealerships control, in which case they should not be making promises to you they "hope" come to fruition.

Right on the money from my past ordering experiences.
