came from the dealer

ok heres the scoop thanks to this forum i was able to get pricing at invoice the only problem is the 370z i want is not available anywhere in california at all according to the fleet sales person(he said he did a search and found notthing in the entire westcoast region)

i was looking for monterey blue 6mt with sports carpet/splashguards/kickplates

now my question is to those who might know

he told me that nissan only rearly opens there "slots" for ordering
and that he cannot order anything right now as nissan has no "slots" per se

is this true or is he just trying to let me settle for what they have in there lot(mind you he tried to sell me every color with the same specs and i said no since i am set on the blue z if any i told him closes color as my 2nd would be the platinum grey-which no one has ethier--:()

opinions?

yea my dealer told me they couldnt get my pearl white the way i wanted it either. they even tried a couple times to get me to choose a different color. but i stuck with it and told them order it from nissan or find one. so they managed to re-route the exact one i wanted as soon as it his our shores at port. it was supposed to go to some other dealer. and it came in like 2 or 3 weeks, better than the 3 months or so wait to custom order one!

What I'm about to say is purely my own assumptions / deductions... so take it for what it's worth.

The U.S./Japan market was the first to get their Z's produced, while the rest of the world had to wait. I'm assuming they've now produced their initial target quota for the U.S. market, and they've moved on to producing for other international markets.

I'm in Canada.. and I've placed my order with the dealership. I'm told that Nissan is producing Canadian Z's right now, however my specific one (White MT with sport + nav) is slated to come off the production line late May/Early June. I'm assuming they tool up to produce one type of car straight for a period of time, and then switch to a different package configuration and pump dozens (hundreds?) more out.

Keep in mind that different countries have different safety regulations, and options, so they're not going to mix U.S. production in with initial production of international orders. I'm sure once they've achieved inventory that satisfies all of the international markets, that they would once again produce for the U.S. ... but who knows... maybe it'd be time for the 2010 model by that time!

So to sum it up... your sales rep just might be telling the truth this time... That's my guess.

yeah thats the option he gave me right now he said he will talked to the dealrships buyer and see if they can reroute one with my specs

guess it wasnt bs then?

If you haven't already...go to NissanUSA.com and find dealers, then go to their websites and check inventory.

I do that before I even go to a dealer - I want to see the exact one I want then I go...and if there is not one there, I don't bother with that dealer. And a lot of the time salespeople don't even know what's on the lot.

Anyway...just a thought.

It is true that there are only so many slots for custom orders. Nissan has a production limit and they allocate a certain percentage to custom orders.

Don't worry about the splash guards and kick plates, they are easy to install after the fact. Just look for the Blue 6MT w/Sport. If you are set on a color don't compromise.

just got an email from the dealer he said he found one in northern california but hes asking me to pay $375 to get it shipped here in socal

is that something iam obligated to do? shouldnt the dealer pay that ship cost?

zero 03-30-2009 07:59 PM

If you are getting an invoice price, I think $375 would be a reasonable to get the car shipped. Beside you will get exactly what you want and you don’t have to wait. I will pay $300 over invoice when my order is here in May.

tru_Asiatik 03-30-2009 08:14 PM

^^good point...we'll see thou
my thing is if they want my business they will get the car for me with no additional cost..you know

OMGWTFBBQ 03-30-2009 08:18 PM

By the way, I was looking for the exact same combination, but I just wanted a 370z base in Monterey Blue with the Sports Package. Splash guards and other accessories I didn't care if it came with it or not. As far as I know, West Covina Nissan sold theirs last week. I know Mossy Nissan Escondido HAD one, but I'm not sure if it's still there. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT buy that one though. When I looked at it, it had 150+ miles on it. They wanted MSRP + TTL. I instantly left after seeing the car. I went to the Nissan dealership at the Cerritos Auto Square and they said that there's the exact car located in Arizona, but they'd have to ship it over to their dealership. They offered to work with the pricing for the car and shipping fees.

Good luck!

tru_Asiatik 03-30-2009 09:22 PM

^^ they mentioned the arizona 1 to me as well thats funny

OMGWTFBBQ 03-30-2009 11:09 PM

Haha. It's like a race to see who gets theirs first.
