  • I don't like the spoiler
  • Rays wheels are heavier than the 18" base wheels and 19" tires will cost more to replace
  • I won't be tracking the car to see the benefit of the VLSD, also everyone says it isn't that good anyway
  • I probably won't see a great benefit of the Akebono brakes without tracking the car

To each his own....I was just giving my 2 cents to the OP....I guess this is why Nissan makes them in so many models, Base, Sports, Sports-Touring/Nismo....to offer different options for those with different budgets and intentions with the car....

Did you get this?

Oh sorry, I didn't know that the Nismo 370z is called the R-tune... What does R-tune stand for again? I hope its not race-tune.

And if you lose the fangs it doesnt look like everything else. It looks like a 370z without fangs...aka better.

Before this turns into a bitching contest, I will say this is just my opinion, you may have a different one...lets keep it civil.

Bottom line, no faster straight line, but whips it up when you turn. Now that's :driving:

I have always wondered what exactly is the Euro Tuned shock absorbers mean. Are they non US spec shocks, meaning they didnt on purpose make them softer for the US market?

OP. The Z is a really nice sports car. If you will be changing the majority of what's on this list, get the base.

Oh yes, welcome to the forum.

is the rev matching also on the base model?

so the only uptake between touring and base is bluetooth.. leather heated seats and maybe navi? I dont need any of that.. but just wondered if rev matching is on base?

No SRM on base. Navi comes with rear camera and is quite handy. Go to a dealership to get a hard copy brochure so you can see all the options and the grouping. Here's an online brochure.

Oh yes, welcome to the forum.

Welcome. If you will be changing the majority of what's on the list don't. The Sports package brakes alone are worth more than what you pay for the sports package.

Everyone keeps saying front spoiler, does anyone have a pic? My 2014 base has a plastic 'spoiler' on the bottom of the bumper, I've never noticed a difference on the sport package.

Are you sure? Sport package brakes are worth ~$1400 brand new, which is much less than the $3000 sports package.

falconfixer 07-26-2014 09:18 AM

A base model is like the buying a V6 Mustang:stirthepot::tup:

I'd call it hyperbole or poetic license. ;)

Yep, that's it. The part that is impossible not to scrape going over a tall speed bump or angled driveway. Had to pop mine back in at the corners on numerous occasions.

Don't get coilovers and drop the car. Every day I consider just taking that damn thing off. I will be getting a new one from the accident repair. I should probably just take it off before I damage it too much.

We need to go back to the old days of car ordering. All cars were base, then you just ticked boxes to add the stuff on. Want leather seats and nothing else? Done!

I still have my original wrapped in plastic. Dealer never installed it. It was in the back, and the salesman had a tough time figuring it out when I asked what it was.

The dealer I purchased it from is quite a distance away so taking it there is no longer a viable option. Is it worth the trouble of installing, or should I just leave it off. My Z is a DD if that makes a difference.

Magic Bus 07-26-2014 04:18 PM

I'd say, leave it off. There's a good chance mine won't stay on long. Unless someone very learned can explain why the air flow it creates is a benefit to leave it on.

My 14 sport has the chin spoiler but not the wind deflector rectangular blocks that are in front of each front wheel.

I believe it ensures zero lift at speed. Improves high speed grip.

Zoren 370 07-26-2014 08:28 PM

Any difference on the struts of the base vs the sports package?
I know I read somewhere they have same part number?
Can someone verify? Thanks

Yup...I remember the old days when pretty much all cars came standard and if you wanted an automatic transmission you had to special order one and it cost more. Now its the total opposite...Auto Transmissions are standard features and standard features require the special ordering and extra $$$ :shakes head:
