Touring and/or Sports Package?
I'm still researching a new Z and weighing the value of options versus added cost. Is the Synch Rev Match a preferred option? Do most drivers really use it? Or, is it simply a nice add-on when you are wanting the other upgrades in the Sports package?
|
Read from a previous thread asking the same question that most people that have the sports package found it a nice feature for the first few weeks and then turned it off and haven't actually turned it back on again. I'd say it is probably 80/20 percentage wise on who has it off and who has it on. It is the other parts of the sports package people really want.

IMHO...... Touring is a 7k package that offers thing you can get for $1500!!! SPORTS package gets WHEELS, BRAKES, and a sports wing!!!! Plus the LOVED shift SYNC!!!!! If you have to choose between to get SPORTS package.... If you got to get a Audio upgrade... buy it at your local Audio store!! Better stuff... and the leather upgrade is MINIMAL!!! It is ALL what YOU LIKE!!! I would NEVER trade the brakes, WHEELS, and WING for 25% leather and a stereo system!!!!!!!

Plus touring isn't +$7k....

Get the base with sport package. And upgrade your stereo later.

I really like the touring features. The rear diff is the only thing I really crave about the sports package.
|
Just get them both.
I love my seats and stuff. |
I got the touring with nav and love it. If I had to do it again I think I would get touring with sport though. I wish I had the differential and the sports brakes that come with the sports package and doing them after market is def going to be more than $3k. At the time the extra $3k seemed like it was out of reach, but in retrospect the extra $3k would have effected my monthly payment negligably and still have been very affordable. This was my first time buying a brand new car so I atleast have that learning experience over with. Oh well, I am still very happy with my purchase/decision.
tldr: get them both! |
It was easy for me to decide. I'm going to replace everything that comes with sport package within the first three months of owning the car. So Im going with base model.
|
Sports package you should definitely get. Touring package comes down to personal preference. I'm a whore for luxury options so to me it was well worth it. I use the heated seats all the time and the Homelink with the garage door opener built into the mirror is sweet. The seats and fake suede door panel inserts are also a nice upgrade. I have touring with sport package and nav system and I couldn't be happier.

I regret nothing with my touring sports package, purchase. The heated seats were the best, driving around Christmas morning. The powered portion of the seat, easily allows me to adjust the seat, so as to look out the right side port hole window each time a passenger readjusts the seat.
As for sync rev mode and 80% don't use it, It sounds like something some body pulled out of their arse, when somebody pulled out of theirs. :stirthepot: |
In my opinion, I would rather get the Touring option over the sport package (and I did) because I plan on replacing most of what comes on the S/P in the first place. Also, the leather seats and suede door inserts upgrade the interior to a whole other level completely over the base/sport interior and is absolutely worth it. But, it boils down to what you are looking for in the car as the sports package gives you a lot of bang for the buck if you are going to be happy with those parts over the aftermarket.
The only things I wish I had from the sport package are the 19" Rays and the Akebonos, the rest I can do without until I get aftermarket equivalents. |
I have touring with sport package, I didn't want the touring at first, but after I set in the Z with the touring with nav package, I couldn't stopping thinking about it. I mean, the leather seat, and the nav system are very nice to have......and my sales person gave me a very good deal for the touring with sport +nav package.
