Worth it for the 2011?
So I've been a long time reader of these forums and am finally in a position where I can pull the trigger. I have two options, a 2010 or a 2011. The only reason i'd want the 2011 is for the back up camera and any updates they might have done.
I'd be getting a Touring + Sport + Nav. A local dealer has offered me a: 2010 - $41k OTD or 2011 - $43k OTD (would have to order and wait 3 months) Are there any updates besides the rear-view camera to the 2011? This dealer also told me he could have a local shop install a rear-view camera for $300 which would integrate to the stock navigation. I think I can get a better deal on the 2010 beyond what they are initially offering. Thoughts or advice? Thanks! |

i paid 40,981 for a touring/sport/nav/6spd fully loaded 2010 factory order back in march. you should be able to pay less than that for a car that isn't a special order and has been sitting on the lot for a while. i paid 37.5k before tax/title etc.
is there a color your prefer? or are you happy with the one in the 2010? |
I want Pearl White, and this car isn't on their lot but they say still at the port.
Good to know about the price you paid. I'm going to try to aim for $38-39k otd and see what they say. Thanks! |

I had a VPP price of $37,398 OTD for a Touring Coupe with Sport & Nav. Only problem is it was for a blue Z. I'm looking for a the platinum graphite one.
|
Well I just got back from the dealer and they claimed the best they could do was $40,900 OTD....the car in question is not on their lot and they said it's at the port/another dealer...not sure what to do now..
|
See if another dealer will make a better offer - they can all find the car :)
|
Well I found the dealer that had it. Looks like their final price is $40,500 otd. My county tax is 9.25%.
Through Costco's auto program purchase a dealer has said I can get the 2011 at dealer invoice + fees which should come out to about $41.5-$42k. Seems like waiting for the 2011 might be worth it...thoughts? |

I found out a week ago that there are no 2010s in the whole USA in the color that I wanted and with all options........I have decided to order a 2011 and get what I want. If you get the 2010, remember that at least on paper, the car will be one model year older. You should be able to get a much better deal on a 2011 41K does not sound like it is that good of a deal to me....I bet if you talk to several dealers you could get a 2011 for that price and it would be one model year newer |
I can't seem to get any dealer outside of one to get me a price on a 2011. Everytime I ask they quote me for a 2010 or ask me why I don't want a 2010.
This car for $40.5k is the exact car I want: Pearl White, Persimmon Interior, Touring + Sport + Nav + 6spd...apparently a rare combo... I don't think I can do much better than $41-42k on the 2011's, which would be invoice + tax/fees.... Debating it... |
41k OTD on the 2010 is way too high!
|
Say you want a backup camera.
I do think if you really want persimmon, you'll have to pay a premium and possibly order, though. |
I'm finding it hard to find a deal on a 2010 with this combo, touring/sport/nav/6mt. All dealers seem to be offering $500 behind invoice, even sitting and negotiating the best im getting is $40.9k otd. This one dealer is giving me a take it or leave it price for $40.5k. The OTD fees are generally 10-11% where I live in CA.

You can get a 2011 for that.......Why pay that for a 2010 ?
|
Hey, it feels like you reaalllyyy want that car, I know that feeling, but you gotta gamble a bit and wait.. Because the price they're asking for is a bit high for the 2010.. I would wait until the price drops on it and then buy it.. don't even bother looking at the 2011 imo.. as like you saod you can install a camera for $300 so that's a really good deal....
But if I were in your shoes, I would wait.. Go back and forth with the dealership(s), give feeding them the string then pull it.. :) |
I paid $37.5K OTD for my 2010 MB + sport + touring + nav 6sp. Mine has the rare gray interior. And sometimes I think I paid too much. You can to better than $40k for sure. Get price quotes from different dealers through the internet.
|
Yeah you're right, I really want the car but can't let my patience get the better of me. I emailed that dealer and told them I'd pass on the car at the $40.5k OTD price.
I don't see how I could get $37.5k otd, isn't that like $3000 below invoice? |
They told me invoice was $38K and the sticker on mine was $42K. But you have to remember the dealerships get the hold backs, dealer credits, and financing bonus. They can still make good money even if they sell for less than invoice. My dealership split the hold back and dealer credit which gave me the $37.5K price OTD.

Well it looks like some dealerships scattered across CA have gotten 2011's. I'm talking maybe 4 total in the one's i looked within 100 miles of the Bay Area and LA. One in Fairfield supposedly has a Gun Metallic which I'm asking them to send pics of.
Other dealers I've spoken to said they should get their first few in the next 2-3 weeks.... |
Don't forget to share those pics!
Confirmed the 2011s in CA. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4066/...e2722ef1_z.jpg The actual image used is still the old color but they do claim to have a 2011 Gun Metallic. |
Well looks like I'll be getting a 2011 Gun Metallic Touring/Sport/Nav/6MT soon, the dealer secured it, put down my deposit, paying invoice for it...hopefully have it end of week or next week! Good thing I waited..this isn't much more than a 2010 + I get a stock back up camera!
