Used 40th Anniversary 370 question

There is a dealer nearby with a used 2010 40th Anniversary Z with 6500 miles on it. You can't even tell it's been used. They are asking 32,900 for it. What does everybody here think a good price on this car should be? KBB only goes to 2009 so I don't have a good idea on what a good deal on this car would be. Many thanks!

I've been searching AutoTrader.com for up to a 500 mile radius from my house and about the cheapest I've seen ANY 370Z listed for is $28,000. It seems most are listed for $31k to $35k so I think $32,900 is a fair starting price for a car with a lot of options. So final price depends on your bargaining skills and the dealership I guess. If somebody else thinks this is a high price I'd love to know! I want one so bad!

98intrigue 09-06-2010 01:00 PM

That is a great price, considering sticker is just over $40k. I got shafted a bit on mine, at $38,3xx. There's a used one around my area with 3,200 miles on it for $32,000.

Rui Z 09-06-2010 04:05 PM

It depends on where you live and how available it is. I don't know where IB is. In California you used to be able to get them at invoice ~36K. So 33K seems fair.

Imperial Beach, CA is IB. Thanks for the info so far guys.

Crap man, Jenkins Nissan in Lakeland has a brand new 40th listed for $32,995 on their website.

It was sold the day I started looking for one. They need to update there website. I was pissed! Haha.

Invoice is $36k and change, so that represents a discount of $4k for just mileage and use in California. Not bad. Is it a Mossy dealership? Or a used car dealership?

My only other question would be to ask: "why was it reacquired by a dealership after it was sold?"

spearfish25 09-07-2010 03:09 PM

Smells fishy (aka accident) but perhaps you're the lucky person to find a 40th that someone bought and then quickly moved on for something bigger/better. There are only two reasons I would unload a car I bought new and drove for just 6k miles: 1) accident, 2) had the money to get out and get something better if the Z wasn't what I expected it to be.

Not sure why you think that when you can buy new all day long at $36K or less. $3K off for used is reasonable (and the car can probably be bought even cheaper)

kenchan 09-07-2010 04:34 PM

yah, i would offer $30K and see where it takes you.

modshack- you get your new GTR yet? :D (just a guess).

IB 350Z 09-07-2010 05:04 PM

They just offered $31900- I haven't even started negotiating yet! I'm gonna get the carfax but if it has been wrecked then I'm getting the body shop name cause they did the best job in history!

I'm a huge Nav cripple though- don't know if I can do without that but the 40th is sick.

stacy001 09-07-2010 06:06 PM

I think $31900 is a good price.. if you can get them down alittle more even better. you'll love the 40th. I have one, its sick bro.. make sure it hasnt been wrecked. Good luck!!!

sonic370 09-07-2010 06:59 PM

Not sure if this helps or even makes sense. but i was offered 25,500 as a trade in on my 09 base with sports package with 7500 miles on it. that i paid 29,500
for. depending on where you live theses cars are all over the map.

of course i didn't do the deal i usally trade when i get around 36,000

I didn't say anything about price. I just question a car that's quickly turned over (6k mi = ~6mo of ownership). The comment doesn't obviate malice but instead portrays my skepticism of the quick flip. It could have been hit or equally likely the buyer may have quickly moved on to the next better car. Don't read into things too much.

Carno 09-07-2010 07:09 PM

People get rid of new cars for all kinds of reasons. I got my Z with 2500 miles on it, because the old guy who ordered it new couldn't get in and out of it without hurting his back. He traded it in for a Honda CRV, of all things.

It's relatively easy to find a place that can install a nice aftermarket nav system. Don't let that hold you back!

Hence why I said that the sale of this relatively new car could mean anything. Better to be a little skeptical and cover your bases than to empirically trust everything that comes your way.

IB 350Z 09-07-2010 07:24 PM

The dealer said the guy had a "lifestyle" change. I'm guessing marriage or a kid? Who knows. I got the VIN number. Is carfax the best way to check a Vin?

IB 350Z 09-07-2010 07:28 PM

My 06Z is paid off which is nice. I really want to see what I can get from Fontuna when the '11s come out but if this car is clean and I get a good price I may jump.

This car is in SD, so if anyone here was the owner then pm me.

Lifestyle change? :supergay:

haha j/k

Yes definitely check the Carfax.. The dealer should be providing that to you free of charge, if not ask them to.

spearfish25 09-07-2010 09:53 PM

Carfax is a good way to go. Most repair shops will report any work they do. The only way it would get fixed after an accident without a carfax report is if the guy had someone on the 'inside' who did him a favor. If you're really worried, you can always ask to have a 3rd party shop put it on a lift and look it over before buying.

Was the 40th you were looking at at the Mossy dealer in National City?

chowg 09-29-2010 11:48 AM

just out ouf curiousty, did you end up buying?

TongMan 09-29-2010 06:23 PM

Not a bad price. Get it if you are happy with it.

IB 350Z 10-04-2010 05:42 PM

No, it sold before I could make a decision. love the 40th...but cant do without the nav system. New 40ths are being given away now, so Im really glad I missed that one. Yes, it was in National City.
