sport package plus navi system
im not sure if its been asked but is it possible to get the navi system only with the sports package w/o getting the touring/sports trim??
anyone have experince custom ordering from dealerships with the set up? thanks |
It'd cost a LOT! Center console, wiring, etc. <--- So no, it'd have to be a custom job. The dealer can't order the Navi without the touring package.

No problem. :)

What id like to know is why you cant get sat radio on a base model 370z.
How silly is it that you cant order that as an option. In order to get sat rad youd have to buy a touring model. What horsecrap. |
^^exactly my thought
i wanted the sports package coz of the LSD and Big breaks but i wanted the navi from the touring(dont want leather seats/dimming rear miror etc) |

Chevey is just as bad. LS is base, LT1 is a step up, LT2 is next generally, depending on what vehicles you're getting. And you cant get, say, a NAVI system w/o getting the LT2...gay. I doubt theres nearly as much work into transplanting the system into the cars as you guys think, though.... |
^^^ And if you want a chevy car with factory nav and/or hud, you HAVE to buy the corvette.

Chevy CAR... Not truck. I know the trucks have Nav. But if you're buying a truck, you're not considering any car and visa versa. They're trying to get people to buy a Corvette or a Cadi if they're looking for ANY car. They don't push any incentives to buy a cobalt unless you're poor. :( That's my point.

Yeah, my dad has a Garmin. I still like the look of OEM though.

Tomtom's are considerably cheaper in the end. Although I will say, I like how it looks in the 370, thats for sure - that pop-up **** in other cars is gay. |
LOL! I'm not going to pay for the street update. (Not from Nissan anyway) :D
There's ways around all that. Nissan doesn't use their own maps. The whole GPS program is made by another company. You can get the update for stitched maps directly from map vendors since most use the same formats for everything. Why pay the dealer markup??? |

So, I didn't know there were work-arounds. Kinda cool though. |
Yeah. Just think of it from a Nissan CEO prospective... If you didn't want to spend a hundred million dollars on getting the maps for your nav system, you'd want to outsource it, right? Well, there's about 4 big companies out there that put the GIS (global information system) map information together. They've invested the millions into that business. Then they sell the data to the GPS software writers (like Garmin and Tom Tom) and then they sell that software to OEM providers (like AC Delco or Bose) and finally, that makes it to Nissan.
So if you cut out a bunch of the middle people, you can get the map data for dirt cheap! :) |
