Fair price?

Hi guys,
I need help from you real quick. We testdrove one today and want to buy one.
Here's the details:

Total MSRP:$38,565.00

Model
370Z™ Touring with Sport Package
Transmission
6-Speed Manual
Packages and Options

* Sport Package

Accessories

* Carpeted Floor Mats
* Illuminated Kick Plates
* Carpeted Trunk Mat

They wanted us to pay the MSRP and the additional market adjustment of 5.000 $ - we said NO WAY! So now we're down to the MSRP and with tax and everything included I think we'll be looking at 40.500. Is that a fair price or a rip off?

We have the car over night and will drop it off tomorrow and also decide tomorrow.

I have offered invoice for the car and gotten it. I am trying to get it at dealer cost +4%, which is usually an extra grand or two under invoice. if they dont have or give what you want, just walk away. Its a buyers market, if one wont do it, then someone else will. Patience is key here.

Correct, if this was week one of the new Z I could see paying MSRP, but with the market and them needing to sell, I would offer invoice and if they say no then call another dealership.

Are you really set on this car? why not go to other dealers with an invoice offer and see what they can do. If you really like the car and willing to pay the money, then go for it.

I got mine coming in tommorrow with the same setup except no kick plates, but add splash guards for $35,875 before tax. Soo that sounds bad comparing to me....

I'll talk to my husband, but I think we'll call the dealer before and I'd like to go down a bit more.
We dont have too many choices, we're only in the states for two weeks, then going back to Europe. I checked a lot of dealers, and they dont have the car we want...
The car ius parked in the driveway, so of course they offered to take it overnight, I guess so the pressure to take it now is be higher...

Thanks for your opinions so far, I'll keep you updated.

we just found out about the usaa discount.

this is our deal:

INVOICE

MSRP

MEMBER
PRICE

TOTAL $35,218
MSRP Savings: $3,347

The dealer where we want to buy from, we cant get this discount, but we found a close by dealer, where we would get the deal, just the car in silver, and not white.

So we are going to call the dealer, and tell him the price we can get, if he wont get close to it, we might go for the silver one

It always pays to search and be patient..

Being USAF retired as of 2005. I have purchased cars from England to South Carolina, here in the states. I have shipped at least two cars and picked up at JFK and Mami International. With the economy and global transport being a breeze. You can purchase anywhere and anytime and save money, even when shipping cars.

Why not have the new dealer make a trade with the old dealer so you can get the car you want?

Stelina 02-21-2009 12:54 PM

We bought it :ughdance:

They agreed after we showed them the deal we can get with the car dealer that is a usaa dealer, so they also went down to 35.800 $.

I think we got a decent deal now, I wouldn't have paid the 3.000 more

Thanks so much to this forum or the person who posted about the usaa discount, was the best way to threaten them

Hey! I posted the USAA thread originally, so I'm really glad it worked out for you. I'll be getting mine the same way this summer. Let me know how it breaks in! Cheers.

Just Got Mine...

and I love it! It's silver, and is the Touring model with Sports package and 6 speed manual transmission. Price from the dealer in Coral Springs (Ft. Lauderdale) Florida was $35,250+TTL. The dealer, who I would highly recommend, claimed that the deal was $300 below invoice.

bkunzi01 02-25-2009 01:15 PM

i just bought mine on long island. Touring + Sport + Nav + all options minus splash guards and I settled for 40k flat...just under 44 after tax and title. I think thats a very fair price on the island...not the best but definitely better then others here.

Stelina 02-26-2009 02:27 PM

Congratulations! We're enjoying our new car so much. We're in Florida right now for vacation, and will go back to germany next week, hoping shipping the car won't take too long...
