Base + sport owners who financed - payments?

Did a quick search on the forums and didn't see anything:

Post as much as you feel comfortable with sharing..
- monthly car payment
- monthly insurance payment
- how much per month on gas?
- what was your down payment?

Trying to get a feel for what [hopefully] next year will be like for me ;)

red6spd 07-08-2010 08:14 AM

Ok now whats your street address? J/K :icon17: thanks for the reply

Jesse_Hunter 07-08-2010 11:32 AM

My price was close to what a new z with sport would be.

I pay 588$ month and roughly $200 insurance (under 25)

Gas spendage (guesstimate) $200-250 per month

Down payment $0, was actually $700 upside down

NCSUPACK09 07-08-2010 04:40 PM

- monthly car payment: $324.64 (60 month)
- monthly insurance payment: $108.33 (23yo - married)
- how much per month on gas? $100 - $150
- how much did you get for your trade in? N/A
- what was your down payment? $14,000

Jesse_Hunter 07-08-2010 04:49 PM

^^^ I am on the same insurance as parents, knew I should have looked around. Does being married give you an advantage on rate? I have perfect credit and have never been in a wreck, am also 23.

Or is it because you are paying 14,000$ less, probably?

mrcardio 07-08-2010 04:55 PM

There is no relevence between what you will and what someone else pays for insurance.
There are way too many variables involved.

Here just fill in the blanks:
Auto Loan Calculator at Edmunds.com

NCSUPACK09 07-08-2010 08:15 PM

^^ Yeah, there are honestly a lot of variables that go into your auto insurance rate, but we do sound pretty similar in age, credit score, and driving history. Being married definitely helps out, but the down payment doesn't have anything to do with it. Also, my insurance company is USAA.

Jordo! 07-08-2010 09:00 PM

This is going to vary a lot depending on down payment and APR... insurance will vary by age, region, deductables...

I put down $6.5K plus a trade-in valued around $4.5K and my monthly payments are $383 on a 72 month loan.

Well worth it! Love this car

Insurance is around $1400/year, so an average of $116 per month.

PapoZalsa 07-09-2010 07:39 AM

I don't think its a good idea to get another temporary car since you will probably end up in the same situation you are currently in. Either you fix the radiator (cheaper than buying a temp car) or buy a cheaper new car and wait for your next car to be your dream car. Even though you really like the 370z, its not worth putting yourself in a huge hole if you really couldn't afford it. Sorry, its probably not what you wanted to hear :ugh:

I could get another temporary car again and be at square 1, or I could finance a Z and make barely any net profit after.

Help!

Jeeps, while fun, are notorious pieces of crap -- sorry this happend :(

If you can swing it, get the Z -- very different animal from your Jeep, but absolutely worthy of all the praise

For more of the total picture I would suggest adding how much
was received on the trade in to the list, which would give you-

Post as much as you feel comfortable with sharing..
- monthly car payment
- monthly insurance payment
- how much per month on gas?
- how much did you get for your trade in?
- what was your down payment?

That's what I said before but when the dealer offered me an under invoice price I could not pass it, I went for it. now I'm like this :driving::happydance:

lol and its not a good idea to be buying a Z if you dont even have a few thousand to spare, seriously sounds like your trying to buy a car more than you can afford.

its funny seeing some of these guys here putting less than 10% down and financing for 72 mo.

- monthly insurance payment $118/mo(27 Yr old - single)
- how much per month on gas? $200(daily driver, work vehicle)
- what was your down payment? $2500(thats including trade-in)
Final OTD price was 28,912

For my 2nd possible 370z my numbers look more like:
- monthly car payment $506/mo 72 months(5.9% APR)
- monthly insurance payment Unchanged
- how much per month on gas? Unchanged - still DD
- what was your down payment? $1880 in cash, current 370z trade-in puts me 4k upside down - too many miles on it :(
Final OTD price is 30,880. It's an ok deal for a a fully loaded yellow 09 with Nav and 5500 miles on the odo.

Astrosfan 10-27-2010 12:05 PM

I havent purchased one yet, but this is what i'm looking at:

- monthly car payment ~ $380 / 60 Months (3.99%)
- monthly insurance payment ~ $100(base) $124(touring)
- how much per month on gas? ~ $300 (100mi round trip commute to work)
- what was your down payment? ~ $8-9k

Also looking at a used for around $27k

I couldnt imagine financing a car for 6yrs, 5 is even pushing it for me.
Also, I need to stay around $300-400mo... not that i cant afford more but thats alot to spend a month on a car(i know, i know, its not just any car). I'm just more cautious when it comes to monthly expenses, plus i dont want to be "car broke" and i like to go out.

I'm bringing home around $3,500mo net. , 28yrs old, single, with minimum monthly bills for now.

Hope that helps put it into perspective...

ninous26 10-27-2010 05:09 PM

Damn guys, 72 months? I was thinking have having a high payment (480-550) a month and doing a shorter term (48 mo). Is this a good idea or is a 60month term better?

Whats up with these high payments at 72 month terms?

I was thinking of getting a low payment as well (280-360) but a long term (72mo) BUT making double payments..

Which is better? The 48mo idea or the 72 mo idea?

Astrosfan 10-27-2010 05:33 PM

for me, paying payments on a car that is several years out of warranty is not worth it, even if you plan on keeping it til the wheels fall off.

personally, i am getting a 5 yr loan, paying the monthly payments and putting the difference between the 4 and 5 yr loan in a savings goal acct. That way, when year 4 comes around, i will be able to pay it off if i choose. Or, if something goes wrong with the car, get in a wreck, i lose my job, ect....i will have that extra padding on top of my emergency fund(5mo expenses).

Look at it this way, i plan on paying the car off on yr 4 but signing a 5yr note allow me the flexibility to pay the lower amount if money gets tight one month. You definately dont want to be car broke!

if you plan on paying double payments and dont need the flexiblity i say just sign a shorter term and save some $$. If you follow my plan but are not good with not touching the money in savings, it wont work.

Having a low monthly definately has its advantages...
