370Z Insurance

I just got my insurance bill from Geico The bill jumped about $200 for a six month period with the only increase being for the 370Z. I called Geico and they said that the company that rates the cost of repairs for cars changed the rating on the Z from an M to a B and that is why the policy costs more.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

Matt 06-28-2010 07:09 PM

Sounds like it's time to get a quote from antother company!

sonic370 06-28-2010 07:11 PM

no i use allstate when i changed from my 05 to my 09 it went down if you can believe that.something about a new car discount.

azn370z 06-28-2010 07:21 PM

I just paid my geico bill and they didn't raise my rates. I went through Penfed for my geico insurance. I was using progressive, which would not match geico's price.

jpit 06-28-2010 07:42 PM

I'm paying $544.10 for six months - 100,000/300,000, $250 ded. for comprehensive and $500 ded. for collision. Does this sound right?

PapoZalsa 06-28-2010 07:42 PM

I got USAA and my insurance when up from the 350 to the 370Z around $125 for 6 mths.

However, I bought the old lady a 2010 SUV and the 6 months coverage didn't even blink.

You can expect a jump with most insurance when is a sport or muscle car. :dunno:

That depends on your age, state and driving record. Plus your ded. are low.

Waiz 06-28-2010 07:46 PM

Geico did the same thing to me when I bought my Z.

Just change insurance and it should come back down.

You're in pretty good shape actually. I've got the same deductibles, I'm 46 and I'm paying $708.66/6 months.

jacknismo 06-29-2010 03:56 PM

31 here.... paying $565 6 months

Jeffblue 06-29-2010 03:58 PM

haha! i am 22, on my parents policy but i am the primary driver, clean record, i pay 1300 something for 6 months for full comprehensive coverage. rediculous. but thats life.

6MT 06-29-2010 04:02 PM

I'm paying $625 per year with $1.5M liability, collision, theft/damage, and loss of use (glass is on another policy). I'm 47 years old with no claims in the last 5 years and one ticket (3 demerit points).

m4a1mustang 06-29-2010 04:19 PM

USAA FTW. Though my rates have increased recently because too many morons have been turning VDC off.

Nismo_370z 06-29-2010 04:48 PM

Im 26, two vehicles, I have 100/300/100 on the Nismo with 500/1000 deductible and pay $893 per 6 months. With Safeco. The 96' ranger has only comprehensive with a 250 deductible...I switched from progressive

Haven't gotten a price increase (from GEICO). September is the next 6-month period.

When I got the insurance, my yearly cost went down about $300 per year from my old car, RSX Type 6 (2006). Hard to believe but :ughdance:

Why are people comparing INS rates? You understand there's like 3463463497 variables that go into creating an individual policy right? Just to name a few they take into account your credit rating, rather you rent or own, driving record, criminal record, zip code, male or female, etc, etc. So unless you know every single variable your INS company takes into account and take note it’s pointless to make comparisons.

Maybe because the OP asked this.

i pay 1376 for 6 months. i'm 22. i'm listed as the primary driver of the 370z and the car is on my parents policy. Just food for thought, when i was setting up the insurance on the car, i was kidding around with the woman from geico and i said 'if this were my mom's car, what would it cost for 6 mo. she looked it up and said 716. for my dad it would be 920. So there you can see the age/gender factor at play.

and i have a clean record btw

:iagree:

Whether I pay $2000 or $200 every 6 months, it'll mean absolutely nothing to the OP except to satisfy curiosity.

I think that's exactly point. In my usual fashion, i will make a completely ridiculous analogy. If someone has cancer, they want to know what the survival rate is for that type of cancer, even though it will have no impact on whether or not they survive, just so they know what they are dealing with. i'm pretty sure this is just to satisfy curiosity, and i dont think its a bad thing.

jpit 06-30-2010 10:23 AM

Also, if you read my original post Geico told me that the company that they rely on (and I assume other ins. companies also) to estimate repair costs changed the rating of the
370Z. I was trying to determine how true this was as many people should be effected by a change of this type regardless what they are paying now. I think people are interested in this information. For instance if jetblue had said his mother was the primary driver he would be paying much less.

Jeffblue 06-30-2010 11:10 AM

geico just spends top dollar on repair costs for our cars for no reason. They spent 3750 to replace 2 wheels, 2 tires, and 2 sensors. That is ridiculous.
assuming top dollar:

950x2 for wheels=1900
300x2 for tires=600
100x2 for sensors=200

2,700.

So unless the flatbed, alignment, and other insurance adjuster bs they did cost 1050, they get ripped off for parts.

g96818 07-04-2010 10:42 PM

i thought insurance is supposed to drop after u reach 25?

Boost_lee 07-04-2010 11:35 PM

I'm 25 and I'll be switching to AllState next month. I was quoted about $425 for 6 months. Hopefully by the time I visit them, it wont change.

HATED1 07-04-2010 11:44 PM

My insurance from my 350z-370 went from $450 ish to $650ish. Allstate quoted me for $440ish. Looks like ill be switching.

Wow USAA must really not want me to buy their insurance. I hear they are cheap for everybody, except me!

With a sparkling record they are quoting me $219/month for my two cars. I have AAA now and it's $139/month. Progressive even quoted $140/month.
100 comp and 300 collision. I'm older with lower coverage options and USAA still is cheaper for you! (I have quite a few discounts too)

I am:

Single

Not sure what the deductions are

$420/6 months

I am on my dad's policy which has his house and 5 cars on it (one is going off very soon). I don't know how long I will be able to stay on his policy though as I just bought a house (haven't moved in yet) so I won't be living with him anymore. When I got a quote from geico it was like $1200 every 6 months.. lame!

Holliday 07-24-2010 01:30 PM

I am 24, USAA with 4 cars on my policy. I pay around 220 per month for the Z alone and I have a good driving record..............now anyways! HAHA.

I was told the rates depend a lot on your location and the cost of repair. I am stationed overseas in Germany so the cost to repair is high. Sucks, but it is what it is and I love my car!:happydance:
