Z's mark up & out of State purchases

So I have been doing a lot of homework regarding:

Year Model-----------Decided 2010 Touring 6-spd
Options & Pkg--------Yes, Sport & Nav
Financing-------------Will consult Lending Tree and FCU's
Down Payment-------15K
Insurance-------------USAA

HOWEVER.....

I cant find a bloody descent deal. In TEXAS they all are asking for at least $1,100 over invoice. Now I am a fair guy, I know they gotta keep the lights on and the coffee pot running but cmon. I originally set out to expect not to be able to find invoice but after finding this forum and reading it day and night I am motivated to find an invoice deal. However, here in texas these guys don't budge.

My Q is: If I buy out of state what kind of things could I run into, like out of state Tax maybe? Are there anythings to think about before buying out of state?

Also, I've been pondering ordering a built Z. Aside from invoice, what kind of fee will a dealer charge me? Will they still try to mark up an order for a build?

Thanks

You don't pay state taxes in the state that you buy the car, you pay in the state of residence.
I've bought numerous cars in Kentucky and I live in Indiana. Paid Indiana taxes.

Talk to one of the sponsored dealers. You will surely get your Z below invoice dealing with them.

Isn't Lou in St. Louis. a 16 hour drive? I remember that drive like it was yesterday. We drove up to Ft. Leonard Wood to see my brother finish BOOT and AIT. Could you imagine a father trying to drive while reaching in the back to pry me and my other brother apart. i think that trip we all at one point or another had our hands wrapped around each others throat... Hmmm, a good deal might be worth another strangling from my brother.

But if he's at invoice, instead of 1100 over, what's that $69 per hour! Even if it cost a few hundred to fly there, it's still a better deal!

True that, and the break in would be done a lot sooner.

If you can't get a good deal locally, try other Texas cities (if you have not already done so)...Dallas, San Antonio & or Austin. You'll pay the same state taxes, and involve up to 4-5 hours of driving, but it increases your chances for getting the deal you are wanting. Start with a volume dealer first and check the dealers inventory on the Nissan website. If you can't get the numbers you want, and it is a realistic request, see if the dealer will throw in some accessories of add on's for free....can't hurt to ask. Good Luck

As far as California is concerned:
1. If the wheels touch CA roads then the tax has to be paid within the state.
2. It is possible to transport the car across the state borderlines
3. OR, the most cost effective method, the buyer can get a notarized one way permit at which point the salesperson will drive the car to the borderlines(another driver follows him) and then switch.

Or so the California Vehicle Code states ;D

Look on the bright side, you Live in texas and you don't pay state taxes :)
