370Z not in stock most places?

Like all these fun cars, there never seems to be a great supply of them around. Same with Corvette, etc, it's like a FEW places have them, but most Nissan dealers I see have none, or one. Kind of hard to sell these cars if they aren't on the lot isn't it? I almost find it hard to believe they wouldn't stock a good 5-10 of them.

antman22 06-08-2010 03:53 PM

hrm, we seem to have plenty here in dallas...in fact, the dealership where i bought mine- they've got 3 limited editions right now, probably another 5 "normal" z's sitting in the lot.

kenchan 06-08-2010 03:55 PM

yah, definitely check around your area. not just your closest dealer cause they might be more economy car minded and dont stock the fun stuff.

The "New" market is still not that strong, especially for a Play car..

Maxima09 06-08-2010 04:25 PM

Yeah I know some dealers order different stock, but it's amazing to me how many of the "fun" cars aren't stocked very well anywhere...

Exactly, lots of them on the lots here! Vette's, all of the dealerships have a pretty large supply of those here.

Roy 06-08-2010 05:21 PM

The dealer I bought mine from had about a dozen 370Z's and 3 GT-R's...

ERZperformance 06-08-2010 05:32 PM

My local dealer has so much they are selling below invoice

I agree. When I was looking several weeks ago even though there are 30+ dealers within 100 miles of where I live only a handful had more then a couple 370Z's in stock according to the dealer search on nissanusa.com. I contacted the dealers that had the most in stock as I figured they were more likely to deal. The dealer I ended up buying from had 3 40th Anniversary models in stock and I negotiated a good under invoice price.

When I went shopping for mine the dealer had seven or eight coupes with the Touring package (including two 40th Ann.) and five drop tops. The trick was finding a base model with the sport package. There weren't any in my part of the state; the dealer ended up bringing me one from West Virginia, about a hundred miles away.

Seemed to me that there were no shortage of Z's in the Washington D.C. area as long as your looking for cars with the works.

There seems to be a decent amount in NJ

PapoZalsa 06-08-2010 08:02 PM

They are just sitting in the dealers here, because they are not selling that well. There is even an used Black Nismo in my local Nissan dealer.

I drive by the Nissan dealership in Delaware every weekend and they only have their "special Z" on the lot. Lately it's been a blue vert Z, nothing special IMO, but that's all they have! What gives?!!!! I guess it's kinda good since they aren't being advertised everywhere. Makes them more special and rare, I guess. By the way..I noticed a silver base Z just around the corner where I live..found that quite odd haha...never woulda guessed that!

where do you live in the Northeast? Here in Southern Mass, there are only a select few and most do not have one on their lot. I had to drive to RI to test drive a manual...it was a 40th...beautiful inside and out...

When I purchased my Z 3 weeks ago, I asked my dealer this same question because I had such trouble finding the car I wanted. From what he told me, they aren't exactly making tons of Z's, but it's mostly the fact that people don't want just base or touring, they want base w/ sports package, or touring w/ sports package, and for some reason nissan is not sending many of those(no idea why, I couldn't imagine buying a Z without the sports pkg, it takes the car to an entirely different level imo). I even remember as he was looking for the car I wanted(pearl white, base w/ sports pkg), he told me he could probably find me a standard base or touring model in that color, but sports pkg would be tough. Maybe one of the dealers on here can comment a bit more for ya.

FuszNissan 06-09-2010 06:59 AM

Just look around there are a lot of dealers sitting on Z's.

ecludian 06-09-2010 10:59 AM

None in my neck of the woods. Only one Nissan dealer and they only got one in the last few months and it was pre-sold. Makes it hard to go and test drive one or even to sit in one to see how they are for creature comforts inside. Plus they only get coupes so no roadsters to test out.

I've noticed this too and agree with you 100%. Here in WI, there are not many to start with and it seems the only Z's available are fully loaded roadsters, 40th coupes, and base (no sport). And most of those are auto transmissions. There are no base + sport + MTs around anywhere. I know that's the most popular combo but it's not as if dealers had them and they flew off the lot. I talked to 2 dealers that haven't gotten any in that combo and they both even stated that base + sports are very difficult to find.

There is a bunch at the Nissan Dealerships in Austin. Even had a GTR in the showroom

Part of the problem is also the higher price-tag of the 370z compared to the past 350z.

Exactly what I mean. Even with Corvette, I know there are these national dealers who are the big Corvette places, but how FOUR Chevrolets in my area have 1 or LESS corvettes most of the time makes it nearly impossible to go out and test drive it, really select one, etc. Same with the Z. My dealer who I got my Maxima from said he would "have one for me in 24 hours" and it's no problem, but that's much different than if he had 6 or 7 sitting there that people could come see and test drive and buy. Same with the Acura TL-S at the time, I could only find one on a lot near by. Go look for a Maxima, they have like 15-20 on the lot at times and thats honestly what made buying it so easy....I went in, drove a demo, checked out all the different combos, and signed. Same with an Accord..etc...notice the cars that are best sellers are all over the lots!

Dan37TZ 06-12-2010 01:51 PM

The local Nissan dealership to me has about 3 370Z's in stock, all Automatics. 2 Convertibles and 1 Coupe.

They want 42K for the coupe after a market adjusted value of (+$2000).
