Curious if dealership would do this?

Ok so Ive found a 370 in the town that I live in that is pretty much perfect and exactly what I want. They are asking 34,780 for it and its a 2010 with sport package. What Im wanting to know is if you guys think the dealership would go 32,800 OTD for the car or is that kinda asking to much? And how would I go about telling this to the dealer? Just saying if we can do 32,800 OTD on the car, consider it sold or what?

Edmunds True Market Value says others are paying only 32.4k for it (which should be on par with 32.8k out the door). I would personally not pay more than 32k out the door for that, especially considering that the 2011's should be out in a few months...

32.5k out the door isn't a bad deal, definitely you are not asking too much. Just tell them the price you want it for, and if they can't get to that number exactly then start to walk out (they'll be all over you). If you are financing as well, you can probably get closer to being under 32k.

now when you guys say OTD, i assume you are referring to Car+Tax+Tag+Title?

Most likely just the Car, Fees, and/or finance charges.

ahh ok. i ask because im in a similar situation MSRP 35,360 and 1 dealer told me 35k OTD (Car, tax, title, fees, etc..) so i thought the OP was talking about getting one for $32,800 with EVERYTHING.

Yeah, OTD means Out The Door. When someone says that they usually means tax included, since that is part of everything. $32.8K OTD in this case might be tough, depending on his tax rate.

I would say 32K before TT&L. And the 2011 will be out next year! Not months...lol

Thanx for the advice guys, and when I said OTD I did mean with tax, tag, license and everything. So they'd sell me the car for 32,800 total with everything included. I be putting 2500 bux down as a down payment and hoping to get my payments down to around 480-510 a month.

Oh dang I was wrong then. Even better deal...I assumed that OTD did not include TTL because here in Nebraska you pay that when you register, so the dealer price has no bearing on it. Is it not common to pay sales tax to the DMV?

Only way youd get to 510 a month with 2500 down is if they gave you 0% financing which isnt available on that car.. youd have to go longer term than 60 months to get that.

MindFusion FX 05-24-2010 04:05 PM

:iagree:

but if you do get the car for $32,800 OTD (Tax, tag, title) - 2500 down leaving $30,300 to finance, then if you get a 6% rate and 72 months you'd be at $502

NCSUPACK09 05-24-2010 04:40 PM

^I would save up for a bigger down payment and take a 60 month loan. You are going to waste so much money in interest with a 72 month loan.

For the OP, 32.8k OTD is definitely possible for a 2010, but it wont necessarily be easy. You will need to find a dealer that needs to sell the vehicle and is willing to work on the price. I'm also not sure what your tax rate is, but its probably higher than the 3% tax in VA.

Yeah Id prolly be looking to go 72 months in order to get the payment down to that price range. 0% Would be nice but impossible :)

Ya know..saving up a bigger down payment isnt a bad idea. I just really want the car here soon... its all I think about pretty much lol. And Im in Illinois and the tax is 7.5% I believe.
