'09 Touring with 35k miles??
Hello,
Brand new to 370z. Caught the fever for one about a week ago. Amazed at this great car...now I need to find the right one. I've decided the Platinum Graphite is the color for me. Found an '09 Touring model with pretty high miles...35k. Of course the dealer (non Nissan) says it was highway by an older person (surprised?). Asking price is <$28k. Question is: Good deal/buy or Keep looking? Thanks for your help! |
I would say keep looking. That guy must've driven a lot to rack up 35k miles already. If you're willing to spend a few more G's you can find one for a lot less miles. I'm sure you could find a Touring/Sport package Z with low mileage for low 30's. Depends what you could do without too. Base model will go for even less....
|
I wouldn't jump on it. I had a dealer offer me an '09 blue Z touring/sport package with 4k miles for $31k.
|
What is your budget, 30k?
|
35K? wow...I'd sell you mine with 6K on it for that! (minus the seats!)
|
Based on my budget and trade-in position I'd like to stay under $30k.
I forgot to mention, auto trans is my preference. My Jeep Wrangler is a wearing me out in Houston traffic...lol. |

Also, where in Houston are you? |
Touring would be a nice to have, but not a must.
I'm just south of Houston in Sugarland Area. |
Hmmm... 'Nice Price or Crack Pipe' on a '09 370Z with 35K miles for $28k - I'd have to go crack pipe. Keep looking, brotha!
|
^^I agree, keep looking. BTW, I've got an '09 Touring model that I bought in January 2009 that has ~29k miles on it. Almost forgot to mention that I'm an "older person"...LOL
|
keep lookinig
i just bought a 09 with the sports package with 500 miles on it for 29,5000
msrp was 35,380. it was the last one on the lot. |
35K miles on a Z, what the hell the owner was doing?
|
Damn, my deal must have been amazing then(It was hard work, even left the dealership once). I got an 09 Chicane Yellow Z with AT, touring, floor mats and splash guards for 27,200 OTD. 11,500 miles on it too!

If you do a proper internet search. There are quite a few 09 models still brand new. You can send out bids and see what they take. Texas is the rip off state with cars. Houston is a little more fair than the rest of the state. These foolz are asking 1000 under msrp on 09's.
But you can get the vin's on them get a printout from consumer reports to see how many rebates and holdbacks are on those 09's and place your bid. On a 09 you should be able to get a substantial mark down from invoice. |
Just as a comparison...$28,900. 14,000 miles PG touring with sport.

I would say keep looking. Your optimal pricing time range is after September 2009. That's when you will save the greatest amount of money for a couple reasons. 1. Season adjustments as dealers try to get rid of their 2010 models to make way for 2011 models. Incentives on 2010 models put severe downward pressure of used car purchases, especially for vehicles that cost > $30,000 brand new. 2. Cars lose most of their values within the first 3 years. 2009 MY goes from a 2 year old vehicle to a 3 year old model the day and month 2011 MY is introduced. (2009, 2010, 2011). 3. The next couple of months the 370Z will be facing stiff competition. Ford is releasing their 2011 Mustang GT early and it's definitely a worthy competitor to the 370Z while being less expensive. There will be some cross-shopping on some level and when you factor in the volume that the Ford Mustang is going to be sold on, it'll definitely add to the supply of 2 door coupe/sports car on the market. All manufacturers will be facing increased price competition and incentives will eventually trickle down when demand is not meeting the great supply. |
Appreciate all the feedback!
Verdict is pass and keep looking. I'm going to look at a PG 2010 Sport model tomorrow. Don't want to jinx it, but it may be the one. If all goes well pics will be up soon! |
