Looking for buying advice

Greetings all,

This is our first post and we have already benefited a lot from reading threads posted by other enthusiasts. Great information!!!

We are looking to purchase a new vehicle for my wife and wanted to get input from current owners on some topics.

We are looking to get a 370Z convertible in California with all the features (navigation, sports package, nismo brakes...etc). As we have read on the forums there are issues and limitations with the navigation, some people dont like the gas and heat gauges and other issues.

Is there anything any of the current owners would recommend us NOT to get or things that we should be aware of before purchasing our car?

Thanks in advance,:tiphat:
Emre

I have a roadster with both the Sport and Nav packages and have absolutely zero complaints. The Navigation system is outstanding...not sure what negative things you've heard.

In my opinion, (as objective as I can possibly be) the Z roadster is far and away the best bang (and most fun) for your buck. It's a great car and a tremendous value.

Thank you for the advice craniac24. We had read that the restrictions on the Nav system while you are driving can be annoying (no access to full list of phone numbers, not being able to do detailed search on GPS while driving and a few other things). We always drive with my wife and we would like the freedom to operate the nav system with no limitations when there is a second person in the car.

We are both feeling this is the right car for us. (We still want to test drive a Z4 first :driving:).

Cheers!!!

Ahh...i see. Well, most of the features are accessible via the voice recognition feature. But I agree...that's one thing that's a little bit annoying. In a perfect world, I'd wish there was an override for that.

That is how Nav runs on many cars, my sister has a 4runner and you cant do things on the GPS while you are moving. For every person who says they need it if there is a second person in the car, there is going to be 50 that just want to screw with it while driving and cause accidents.

Is there anything else you might recommend to say "it looked good on the brochure" but wasnt worth purchasing? Or any other quirks of the car?

I've always thought coupes handled better than convertibles due to the increased frame rigidity.

It can vary, but that is generally the case. But buying a roadster is about more than performance. With a top down and wind in your hair, you feel more connected to the road and surroundings. They have their downsides as well, and I own a coupe myself. But even "slightly worse" handling is probably great in a car like the Z.

LOL...the roadster handles just fine Junior.

Since we are moving to Los Angeles I think we are required by law to own a convertible. ;)

Rag top, or coupe look the paint over extremely well! Some have flaws, some don't!

I really don't think the NISMO brake pads are worth it...trust me, the stock sport brakes are more than enough.

Thanks, I guess we'll probably opt out on those than.

LoL...I'm not knocking the roadsters at all...the difference is probably indiscernable, even for someone who spends a lot of time at the track. The matter of coupes handling better than convertibles in general though, is simply a matter of physics...dad.
