Buying a dealer "demo 370z," yah or nah?

Hello everyone, I currently drive a rx8 and in the market for a new 370z.
I got offer from a dealer for a 09 white 370z "demo" car that is fully loaded (touring, sports package, navi & etc,,) with 2k miles on it for 32k. Is it too good to be true?? The car drives fine but i am just worring since it's a demo car. There is unclear history about the car and it's still "leagally new." Should I go for it or walk away from this deal?

$32k doesn't seem like a bad deal. Just inspect it very closely... if everything checks out I wouldn't worry about it being a demo.

You get a good deal and, if you're financing, you get the new car rate.

Just test drive the car and make sure it's sound too you. It's under warranty, and shouldn't scare you unless you feel something is wrong with it.

any areas that I need to pay close attention to??
nice red 370z by the way!

Clutch/transmission feel. I'd try to test another car to make sure it feels right.

Also check all of the body panels and wheels very closely for damage.

Try to get it on a lift so you can inspect the underside as well, want to make sure it hasn't been scraped anywhere by a careless driver.

FuszNissan 04-27-2010 11:49 AM

Interior, Exterior, tires, clutch

That is ridiculous in my opinion, you can get a brand new 2010 with the sport package for $30-$31k :icon14:. I wouldn't pay more than $28k for that. Got my 09 Black Loaded minus Nav with 3k miles for $26k....

Because it's a loaded T/S with Nav, and it qualifies for the new car financing rates. (and the 36k warranty starts at the date of purchase).

the car does need a wheel alignment though, it has a slight pulling problem to the right.

m4a1mustang 04-27-2010 12:08 PM

If it's pulling to the right because of an alignment issue and not because of the crown in the road I'd probably take that as a hint to pass it up.

:iagree: Would indicate that something is bent. But check it on a smooth road to be sure it's not just the usual tracking issue.

x2 all around! (and +1 rep)

Have a body shop check it out for you. It's not uncommon for dealers to resell cars with body damage and try to pass them off as clean. And don't even get me going on the uselessness of a Carfax :shakes head:. Yes, this happened to me once :shakes head:.

Jeffblue 04-27-2010 12:42 PM

if you already know it has allignment problems, maybe thats a sign to stay away...

Chriz 04-27-2010 12:52 PM

who knows what previous drivers did with the car. Must have had one hell of a break in period

atl370z 04-27-2010 01:36 PM

i guess i should just walk away from this one,,,

j.arnaldo 04-27-2010 02:05 PM

According to CR, our monZters are "Much Better Than Average". 2k is nuthin', man! I got my 350 with 13k on her in '08 and, so far, NO problemo! Go for it!

Why not drop your price accordingly

Mize 04-27-2010 03:01 PM

My only concern is the alignment. A car at 2k miles with an alignment issue was not treated well.

Mine was a T/S as well, and the rates will not make a big difference. I agree that his vehicle should be more than what I paid, but navigation, 6 extra months of warranty, and a few hundred in financing should not bring the price up to where it is at. Over $28k is a ripoff in my opinion.

m4a1mustang 04-28-2010 06:29 AM

Well you got a hell of a deal on your car, then... well below the norm.

atl370z 04-28-2010 06:59 AM

Yeah, the dealer told me if the car was new it will cost 42k but they are giving me a smoking deal on it at a price of 32k.
Btw, i love everything about that car except the orange leather seat:eek:

fullmonty 04-28-2010 07:25 AM

My Z had some miles but for the most part sat in the show room next to a GTR. It was at the dealer from January (or There bouts') of 09 to November of 09. I've had no problems and was able to get a better deal for it. So what if I wasn't the first person to fart in it, I'll get over it. Like with most things in life go with your gut.

atl370z 04-30-2010 02:15 PM

so, yesterday I called the dealer and ask about the demo 370z again.
The same sales guy who gave me the price of $32,800 last Friday denial about telling me that price. He told me that the car is selling for $34,800 now. What kinda of crap was that?

FuszNissan 04-30-2010 02:21 PM

Walk away

Vegitto-kun 04-30-2010 02:35 PM

My 370 is a demo car.

I have no problems. looked like it was brand spanking new.

I know that they first break in the engine before people can drive it so I doubt that they broke the thing.

The 350Z I tested was scary the dealership's son takes part in drift competitions and races.

I sure noticed when he drove the 350

kenchan 04-30-2010 02:42 PM

in the US, demo cars are broken in by the potential buyer and dealer sales guys, etc...
so not always sound.

but ive bought a demo in the past with 3k miles on the odo. ran perfect. :)

Bait and switch. Apparently car dealers just get away with it, too. Before buying my Z, I took a look at an '09 Subaru WRX. Between the time I walked onto the lot and the time I entered salesguy's office, the price went up from 21k (a steal for a new WRX) to 26k (just about invoice). I would never buy from a dealer that did something that shady.

fullmonty 05-02-2010 12:22 PM

Pass it up man, they'll be other Zs
