Need help...370z/touring/sports/nav
Here's what I'm looking for:
2009 370Z Black Automatic Touring w/ black leather Sports Package Illuminated kickplates Carpeted floormats A dealership near me has one in stock with all of that, but it also has navigation and splash guards. I'm only communicating with them with e-mail so far and I told her that I do not want to pay extra for navigation. First she said $40,935 then $40,235 after I told her. My question is how low do you think I can get them on down on this...what's the invoice price? I was hoping to pay no more than $38k Also, can I request that the dealership remove the splash guards...is that possible? |
370z touring sport AT. Base MSRP is ~$35,760
+ Sports Package - +$3000 + Illuminated Kickplates - +$200 + Floor Mats - +$115 Subtotal of $39075 Add $695 for Destination and Handling charges Final Price would come to $39770 for what you want Now with those other 2 that they are trying to charge you for you would add these 2 prices onto that total above for what they were trying to charge you. Splash Guards - +$220 Navigation Sys- +$1850 Use these numbers here and try to work with them. Best bet is to go talk to them in person. |

wow...
you have to be a "VIRGIN" car buyer- everyone knows Destination and Handling applies to ALL... |
Thanks...invoice is about $38,600
I've never negotiated before, how long realistically do you think I could get them down to? Also...does anyone know about removing the splash guards? |
Why don't you want the splash guards? They are functional and adds to the aesthetics of the car.

nice illustration "dad"...
i love mud guards/splashguards they really do help and they look nice |
The full spec'ed out ride should cost you anywhere between 37k-38.5k, anything higher is something you'd want to negotiate on. I just ordered one for myself and another one for my brother, one base w/sports ($33k), while my touring w/sport & nav (all options) ($38k on the dot).
So my recommendation is, shop around and don't just jump the gun. Update: After looking at the invoice price for the base w/sports, I re-negotiated the price to $32,450. |

Just wondering, was it hard to get the price down that much? Do you have any tips? For example, should I throw out an offer such as $36k and have them meet me there? |
Do what I did, go price hunting. Given that I'm in Minnesota, I got a pretty good deal for 38k fully loaded, you should be able to get quotes from various dealerships. However, I would suggest you start with the VPP business first. Say that you're looking to get a deal on VPP, which I doubt they'll agree given its upon the dealerships discretion to honor the VPP claim id or not AND the vehicle is so new that there are plenty of potential buyers. That will open doors for you because if one dealership says they can't give you a VPP price then tell 'em that you're getting a 37,900 deal for a touring /sports / nav z34 from another dealership, which is still higher than the VPP price, but you're willing to go with "them" (the one you're dealing with) because of their service record as a dealership. You just don't want a car, otherwise a no name dealer could get you a cheaper price, rather you want an excellent service shop to back it up too, which is why you've decided to go with them but 40k is too much of a price, almost MSRP.
My story is a bit long, I've been in talks for little over 2 weeks, even talked to a couple dealerships in the IL / WI area, but finally decided to settle for the 38k I got here at Feldman Imports in MN. I do my own oil changes and basic maint, so I'm not too keen on taking the car to the service center unless its something beyond me. Don't throw an offer of $36k, that's just too steep for a car which is still barely out. Throw a more reasonable 37,5ish if anything at all, they will come down. If the dealership is only looking for that 40gs then you'll know about that. Just walk away. If you are even a bit flexible with the color and interior, then you could just ask them to get you a 38k touring/sports/nav which might be available in the ground stock for the region. Good luck and keep us posted. I know I can't wait these 2 week that are yet to come! |
i think you can try and bargain with them. trust me. every car dealership is kinda in a slump right now. they are eager to sell sell sell. i think if you are really good, you can get like 37 or even 36k.

I got them down to $38k and took it. I'll be picking it up tomorrow :driving:
