Fees charged by dealers
I am curious what additional fees are charged by your dealership - other than taxes.
For instance, doc, title, registration, or advertisement fees, if any? I feel like we should be charged nothing more than the price of the car, destination charge, taxes/registration/license (varies with your State of residence). |
My dealer wanted to charge $2000 for 'dealer prep' and $400 for nitrogen in the tires. When I became beligerent about it and asked them if they were snorting the nitrogen, they took it all off.

$395 was tagged on to my price it was their "convenience package" which included nitrogen, wheel locks and some other nonsense. I laughed and said, "um yeah take that off"
READ WHAT YOU SIGN CAREFULLY! THERE ARE FEES THAT THEY CHARGE IN WHICH YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY. AND IF YOU AREN'T FORTUNATE TO PAY CASH LET THE DEALERSHIP FINANCE YOUR CAR AS A LAST RESORT, TRY YOUR BANK OR CREDIT UNION FIRST. Quote:

My local dealer is trying to charge a $595 "processing" fee. Its total BS, just another way for them to make up on the backend.
|
caj77...
that is typical for dealers in your area and some east coast dealers- they charge a standard $595 or $599 for processing fees and really hard to avoid- since they all charge that CRAP. in a way i feel good that LA Area dealers just add $50 or so for documentary fees |
Yea, but you paid way too much for your Z ($1K under MSRP) so they should have thrown in the $50 as well as bought you a :icon18: weekend in Cabo to celebrate your new purchase! :ughdance:

I do not see anyone in this thread stating they bought a Z for $1K Under MSRP.

KenBT, you are right, I was wrong.

An honest dealer would charge you the price he/she quoted for the car (incl. dest) + tax + title/plate, nothing more. Anything beyond that is something you SHOULD question! A $50 doc prep is understandable but anything beyond that, I'd call on it.
