Dealer playing games with me
I was at $500 below invoice. Have been monitoring this forum for plenty of weeks now, best deals on '09s at $1500 or more under invoice. Asked him to match these. He challenged me that I cannot get such a deal anywhere and that what people say on forums is one thing and the price paid in reality is another. He says, if I arrange to show him a receipt of someone who got more than $1500 below invoice, he will honor it. Who goes around doing this?

There are actual dealers on this forum that may be able to help you with this. I'm not one though.
|
Sounds like you need to find yourself a new dealer :)

There's a lot of guys who will swagger through here with (supposedly) unbelievable deals..You know about the internet always being right, Right??....Thought so. |
The dealer actually paid me to buy my Z.

whore.

Some dealers actually can't go down as low as others. If they aren't high volume dealers, or if the car isn't on their lot, their hands are tied.
If you feel like you're not getting a good deal, simply go to another dealer. That dealer is either lying, or can't give you the deal you want. Either way, no use in doing business there. |

$1500 under invoice? Maybe there is one with 3000 miles on the Odometer.

Gimme a couple weeks, my lease ends the end of jan. and I will "put up or shut up". The 10s are out already, plus its the middle of winter, I know in NJ Z's do not sell in the winter. I say go to another dealer. You can definitely do much better. When I purchased my 350z back in Jan of 05 it was a left over and I left the dealership WAY below invoice. The thing is you can really not be picky about color or anything, I had a silver 350 and would have taken any color over that.

Replies like yours add to my frustration level. While I don't mind agreeing with you, I find it so random to believe that these 5 threads are liars or with 3000 miles or with 3 wheels. I have personally asked one of them to help me with a copy of their receipt - but these 5 people are in no way obliged to PROVE to the world that they indeed got a good deal. I'm also annoyed that no one pointed out this 3000 mile 3 wheel twist on THOSE threads? You guys just haven't gone through these posts that I am talking about. Anyway, I am not hating on you.. but at the same time don't want to make a fool of myself by paying $500 under invoice when people have paid $1500-$2400 under invoice. @Other poster somewhere in this thread: This local dealer I talk of is actually a high volume dealer and they have 24 Z's on their lot. Don't worry about color etc. they have what I'm looking for and so do many other dealers. |
I guess some of these guys are mad they paid msrp :/
...I'd be a little salty too |
It all depends on when you guy, I bought right before May and got invoice. I was dealing with around five dealerships and telling them all invoice. About 3 out 5 said no one is doing invoice, and if so prove it.
Yet on the boards here people were getting invoice, I went to another dealership and got invoice and the exact car (with zero extra cr*p). Sounds like you need to find another dealership, if a salesperson is unaware of what his vehicles are selling for then he will lose sales. |
I made a post about this a few weeks ago trying to help out who ever wanted it. Metro Nissan of Redlands CA went as low as $2500 UNDER invoice on a silver '09 Nismo if I came on Thanksgiving weekend. Needless to say they wanted to dump them ASAP and I'm sure they were eating money. I'm sure not many dealers would do this but appearantly it happens. I ended up paying invoice for a 2010 last week on the color I wanted, I have no reason to make this up...

Deals do happen. I bought my 08 Xterra X with 17 miles in August '08, base model with power everything, and keyless entry, for less than $13,000, and $14,300 OTD. MSRP at the time was $22,000, invoice somewhere around $20,000.
They had 2, 1 which was bought a couple hours before I arrived, so insane deals do happen. If the dealers want to get it off the lot that badly, they are willing to lose money, and in my case, a Lot. |

don't cry because one dealer won't give you a deal |
^^^^^ I'm not opposed to leg work my friend, been in the market over 2 months already.
I just want consensus that this dealer is really playing games indeed and that indeed it is possible to get $1500-$2500 under invoice. I want consensus that those who are saying its not possible to achieve this at this point of the year are incorrect. I want consensus that those who get $1500-$2500 below invoice don't get it on a 3000 mile New car, but on a 50 mile new car. I want consensus that those who get $1500-$2500 below invoice get it on a car with 4 wheels, not with 3. |

Dealers may act like they won't work online or phone but they will if they want to sell you the car |

It's a 4-wheeled car that has 37 miles on it. Deals are not easy or quick, but they can be real. Why would I lie? |

As for you saying "[I] don't want to make a fool of myself by paying $500 under invoice when people have paid $1500-$2400 under invoice".....consider $500 undeer invoice a win and nothing to feel foolish about. There has never been a car in my entire life that I was able to get the dealer down to below invoice...and I have bought ten new cars in my lifetime that I can remember. Never once did I consider myself a fool because: 1. You can't thake the money with you. 2. Life has a way of evening itself out over the entire span of an average lived life. 3. There is absolutely no rule in life that says you have to always take out of life as much as you end up putting into it. If you can get the car for $500 under invoice then just buy it and start enjoying what you want to buy. |

Now the idiot sends me emails weekly, it's funny b/c I've been in sales before (hated it) and I know all the schemes so he pulled the "we look forward to seeing you for your Tuesday appointment at 6pm". A little trick they think will make someone actually come in and look at the car by scheduling a fake appointment. I informed him I knew exactly what he is doing and I bought the same exact car because the dealer worked with me before coming in, dumb *** basically passed up a sale and he knows it. |
I just bought 1600 under invoice for my '09 base sport with 17 miles and on lot less than 60 days. Had another deal worked for 995 under invoice at local dealer unknown miles and on lot 120+ days. These deals can be had.
Fusz Nissan base 29930 sport 3000 kick 200 floor matts 115 trunk matt 95 dest 720 msrp 34060 invoice -2393 discount -1607 purchase price 30,060 Beau Townsend Nissan touring 34460 sport 3000 splash 200 dest 680 msrp 38340 invoice -2991 discount (holdback) -995 purchase price 34,354 Working with Lou's discounts on his inventory page in hand, I went to my local dealer. They were not happy about having to discount deeply in order to give me competitive offer. They would only do invoice and holdback ($995). So I had my pick from $4000 discount on a base sport, or touring sport. When it came down to it i didn't want to spend an extra 4k for touring package, was not impressed with sales manager at local dealer, lou has a good reputation, and the touring had been on the lot since july. |
