What would be a good offer on a 2014 Nismo?

Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a Certified Preowned 2014 Nismo since my 2010 got totaled :c

I will be putting about $15k down, and I will be cosigning with my parents. All three of us have great to perfect credit so I anticipate a very low interest rate, at most 3%.

The dealer I'm looking at has a Red 2014 Nismo listed for $34,900 and it's a certified Preowned so it has a 7yr/100,000 mile warranty, which is very appealing.

Another dealership has a black 2014 Nismo for $32,500, but it is not certified so I'm not really looking at it too hard.

I contacted the dealership with the red one and spoke to they're inventory manager, who spoke to their used car sales manager and they said that they would be willing to either accept or counter a reasonable offer.

I am thinking about offering $30-31k to see what they say, but I really don't want to do above $33k.

What do you guys think, sound reasonable?

How many miles on the red nismo?? Also if you have "great to perfect" credit, why would you have your parents cosign?

It has 12k miles. The reason for them cosigning is that it is my first vehicle purchase in my name, so I have no auto credit built up, but great credit from credit cards, etc

Gotcha. Looks like the "fair market range" is 29.5-32k on KBB. Id offer 29 and see if they bite. Better to start low and go up from there.

Certified Pre Owned doesn't really carry much weight in my opinion. I know it offers the extended warranty, but that is about it and I believe it's limited. The dealer is also covering the cost of the warranty in his price.

If you bank with a credit union, check with them on extended warranties. They are less expensive and more reliable. They can wrap the cost of the warranty into you car loan. I added one to the last two cars that I purchase and was able to get no deductible full coverage to 100k miles for less than half what Nissan wanted. I have not used the coverage on the Z, but my altima had multiple claims over $4k paid out without any hassle or cost to me.

I'm just saying, focus on getting the car you want instead of whether or not it's CPO. Focus more on miles and overall care and condition of the car. I'd even put color ahead of warranty. $30-31K seems like a realistic price point, but you will probably have to negotiate to get it.

Thanks for the info. My family has banked with the same credit union for over 30 years so I'll look in to their offerings.

I do really like this car, I either wanted red, black, or white, but I think black would be annoying to maintain and the only white one I have found has the front license plate bracket installed, which is a deal breaker for me.

I Think I'll offer $29k and see what they say.

Hondacarland in Atlanta, GA has a red 14 with 882 miles advertised for 34,999 but they will let it go for 32k. Duke Z a member here has a black 14 for 30k with 11,500 miles. They aren't local though.

Yup, if you want $2000 off of the price, offer them $4000 less. Tell them you could be flexible but not much and you certainly can't give them what they are thinking. Be prepared to start walking towards the door... When they grumble, tell them the best you can do is meet them half way, They'll more then likely flex in your favor...

Don't feel like you don't want to offend them, just throw a low number out there. And also mention that your offered price is OTD (out the door) so that they don't say yes and throw in a bunch of funny fees in afterwards to make up for their price reduction...

It's a bit of a dance, but be ready to play them a little...

I always like to break the ice with, "Well I certainly do appreciate you giving me the opportunity to pay full retail, but ...."..... :tiphat:
