I'm at the dealer right now...

Dealer is talking with manager...
Wish me luck guys!
I'm asking 32000 base with sports package

diabolus370z 01-03-2009 06:38 PM

Which dealer are you at?

zero 01-03-2009 06:39 PM

What color are you getting?

mattkim85 01-03-2009 06:40 PM

Superior nissan in chattsworth

Idiot manager is trying to rip me off on my trade..

Dark grey or white

diabolus370z 01-03-2009 06:43 PM

Oh, I was at Superior Nissan in Carson earlier. They wanted $5k over MSRP on all of them. Power Nissan in Torrance wasn't marking theirs up, though, and it sounded like they were willing to sell a little under MSRP.

I would definitely go with white--it looks awesome under sunlight

Educ8r 01-03-2009 06:45 PM

2 dealerships tried the same with me.

let us know. It'd be nice to know of a dealer not asking MSRP+ in so cal.

Namir 01-03-2009 06:51 PM

Yea dealers usually rip people off on the trade. They'll give you a "good deal" on the new car and give you crap for your trade in so in the end you get screwed.

Good luck though, hope it goes well!

Slidefox 01-03-2009 07:01 PM

Do it...Do it...Do it...Do it...Do it...

mattkim85 01-03-2009 07:07 PM

He's being honest saying that he needs to make money on. Either cars.
I could definitely get it under msrp

Slidefox 01-03-2009 07:46 PM

So are you taking one home?

alrite now im home... still w/o the Z...

after talking for a good hour
the manager was willing to pay off my car ('06 rsx-s) for 13.5k
and sell the 370z base w/ sports package (mt) for 32k + ttl

i told them i would come back with a down payment of 5k by next week
and we have a deal.

the only problem is that they only have 2 Z's and both of em are
brilliant silver which im not too fond of.
after seeing the pictures its starting to grow on me a little and im planning on making the deal with them next week. :icon17:

alrite so on to the test drive:

first thing i notice is that the build quality has been significantly upgraded.
looks sporty , everyhing is within reach and you dont feel cramped up.
Once we started speeding up on the freeway, there was no problem making lane changes to the left but... lane changing to the right... all i saw was the dealer's head. Bbiiiigggg blind spot to your right. im not sure if i can get used to it but its no biggy. Next thing is the clutch feel. i tried to get the feel of the clutch at first and actually stalled the car once.. lol ..it engages really low... i think like 2-3 inches off the ground. once i got used to it , it felt great. Pulls hard all the way to red line and doesnt stop.. it doesnt stop turning heads of 350z owners either lol. the rev matching is really really really precise and smooth. ive read pretty much all the reviews of how great it is and how it works and i knew what i was expecting but the first time i attempted to down shift on the freeway, my reaction was o sh*t. that pretty much sold the mt w/ synchro rev for me. i was actually considering the 7AT thinking about california traffic and everything but no...im sticking to the manual..

guys dont be stupid and pay over msrp

you guys know this is the worst depression in history and
the dealers know that too.
if they are not willing to work with the numbers your offering just walk away.
its their loss, it shouldnt be yours.

Educ8r 01-03-2009 09:21 PM

I have to agree with you on the blind spots. Just a bit of advice get the color that YOU really want, don't settle for silver if you really don't want silver. Just my 2 cents.

i had the same color with my altima before i drove the rsx (black)
and quite honestly its not the prettiest color out there but
definitely doesnt cost as much to keep clean if u know what
i mean. i could go a month or two without a car wash on my
silver altima but can barely go a week without it on my rsx.
that fact alone is making me want the silver more now lol

Asheth 01-04-2009 04:40 AM

It sounds like you have a deal on your hands but I wouldn't do it if its not the color you want.

We def think alike. I'm not the biggest fan of silver but I currently have an Acura TL-S in silver and its been ridiculously easy to maintain...unlike all my previous cars. I'd end up getting the color I like on the Z though simply due to the fact that it is a Z and would be worth keeping pretty. The silver has definitely spoiled me as I rarely ever wash my car now.

Devil Z 01-04-2009 01:06 PM

Good luck, and the color isn't that bad :)

One of the salesmen at Power Nissan in Torrance implied to me that they knew the 370's were going to be selling well, and that they would rely on that rather than mark them up. I wonder if Gardena Nissan is going to mark them up like Carson, or use Torrance's strategy.

g35lamd 01-05-2009 01:09 AM

FYI Santa Monica Nissan has 3 or 4 Zs on the lot - all of them are tourings, the only MT on the lot is a non sport (I was told they got a shipment by mistake and were scheduled to get any until next month). Didn't look like they were marking them up since the salesman didn't mention anything about it and the cars just had MSRP stickers.

If your car is in good shape, sell it yourself, then deal on the color and equipment you want with cash in your hand.

You will come out way ahead in $$ saved.

A trade is only a good idea if you know your car has, ahem, "issues" you would rather not deal with in selling the car yourself.

I tried selling my car for a month a 2007 Accord Coupe with only 16k miles. KBB was about $22k, had it on auto trader, ebay, CL and never got a single call! I ended up taking less from the dealer, but I couldn't get rid of the thing otherwise.

Perhaps in this economy financing for a private party transaction is difficult.

I have sold several cars easily myself, usually within a couple of weeks- but none for a year or so.

r6addict 01-05-2009 02:18 PM

Plus 1 on the private sale of vehicle issues... I've been trying to sell my rare lincoln blackwood mint with 64K miles and Carmax, et al are offering me 65 cents on the dollar for it. Truck is paid for, so I'm tempted to just keep the thing... I think that at least till I drive by the Nissan dealer!!

I had a black 350Z (03 May) and a "Cal. Duster" if your not lazy you can go till the black gets wet before washing it.

mattkim85 01-05-2009 07:15 PM

I actually thought about selling it myself but the fact is who would want a used car in this economy when they can get a new one for almost the same price?
