for those who went Base only, what you pay???

I dont know if things with change with the 10's but I'm having a hell of a time finding Base+Sport so I'm starting to focus on a base only model

what did you pay before taxes, tags and title???

Matt 10-20-2009 10:41 PM

Check out Fusz's thread about helping people find their Z. He can, when he has some time, look at the nearest dealerships to see who has the color/options you want.

Base + Sports shouldn't be hard to find...unless you want 6spd as well. Touring/Sports/Nav/6MT seem to be the hardest combo to find, as well as anything with the Persimmon interior.

Most people are paying invoice +/- $500, no matter the configuration, so expect to pay 27500-28500 for base, and 31000-32000 for base/sports, both assuming manual transmission.

edeeZee 10-21-2009 01:01 AM

I paid about $35K for mine otd, it's a base w/ sport package.

bradz 10-21-2009 01:52 AM

for the base, you'll get floor mats, trunk mats, kick plates w/ z logo, cd/fm radio, cruise control and volume on the steering wheel. leather wrapped steering wheel and center console. 18 inch wheels and tires.

Moonlitebiker 10-21-2009 06:29 AM

The base doesn't come with leather seats does it? I don't know if I could live without that.

areyouin729 10-21-2009 08:33 AM

^ I actually have always preferred cloth seats

I thinking right after the holidays I will prob purchase a base model

I'm going for $28,000 before tax,tags,title

Matt 10-21-2009 08:45 AM

Touring is the only option to get leather and power seats. However, aftermarket shops are quoting around $1000 to change the cloth seats out if you end up getting the base, which is abou 1/4 of the price of the touring package (stereo, Bluetooth, leather, heated, power seats, etc).

Remember, OTD for some people include up to 9% tax while others may not have that. OTD can range by over $2000....which is why most people use pre-Tax/Tag/Title pricing.

NewlyIMPORTed 10-21-2009 11:02 AM

i know a few dealers around here so i actually got a base z with all the mats illuminated kick plates splash guards for 28000 with 6 miles on the odometer and the sticker on it was right under 31

Wow! I'll give you what you paid and throw in an extra $15 right now.

Seriously though, it does tell you what dealers could sell a car for doesn't it. Although there could always be other factors we're missing.

FuszNissan 10-21-2009 12:45 PM

There are too many varibles, you need to focus on the price before sales tax, but including dealer fees. There are dealers that will sell you a base + sport for 29,999, but they have a 700 dealer fee and a 299 title fee. Every market is different, inovices are on the internet for a reason, strike a deal at or close to inovice and you have done well. But watch out for fees and add-ons!

Same thing happened to me with my ex wife. Very little cost going into the deal, but then I added some really nice headlights to the front at $7k, gym maintenance at $120 a month, had the handles shaved to improve a sleek line for 3k, saved a few dollars by not purchasing a bra but ended up costing me more due to excessive handling. Eventually it was cheaper to dump her and lease a newer smaller model on a month to month basis. Plus changing the oil is a lot more fun on these tight racing models.

280z/300zx 10-21-2009 01:08 PM

If you want sport don't settle for just a base because it's proving difficult to find what you are looking for. You will regret your decision for settling. Also, just because the 2010's are coming doesn't mean you will get a better deal on the 09's. The 09's since launch have been going for invoice. With the economy the way it is I see the 2010's also going for invoice. If you can't find what you want right now just be patient until you can find it, either as an 09 or 2010. I almost settled because I couldn't find the combo I wanted but persisted and eventually got what I wanted. I couldn't be happier and know that had I settled I wouldn't be as happy as I am today.

I guess you did, and good for you. In S. California, the sales tax is 9.25% (I believe) in April 2009. Plus you pay document, title, and applicable fees. It roughs up to something over 10%.

blinkme323 10-21-2009 04:41 PM

I got my base + sport MT for 31.3k +TTL a little over a month ago.

chuckd05 10-21-2009 10:48 PM

Nothing wrong with the base model... I've gotten several comments on the 18s being nice , radio is not all that bad, vlsd isn't the greatest anyway on the sport and you can get the base for 27-28. Great value IMO. You can upgrade the brakes and a quaife diff will put the sport diff to shame for 1300. I'm extremely satisfied with my 09 base 370z.

Plus your tires are much much cheaper to replace!

+1 This car is for daily driving and fun for the weekend that's why it suits me and I don't need the sports package. I'm just gonna use that 3 grand for exhaust and intake= satisfied.

JungleB 10-22-2009 07:16 AM

When I first saw the Z I actually liked the 18" wheels better, but the size of the 19" wheels makes the car look more compact. I wish they would make the 18" style wheels in the 19" size. Better looking wheels that would give the same allusion of a more compact car, imho.

The Base car is fine for the vast majority of us.

I'm honestly not a big fan of the Rays wheels plus they only are being sold for like $1k at best

I'd rather upgrade to some Volk's and not spend an extra 3k

My biggest thing is the Syncho Rev but I figure I've lived with out ever since I've driven a stick, I can live w/o it now

areyouin729 10-22-2009 08:55 AM

So you think $28,000 including a spoiler is a fair price?

Yeah, but do you know how these stock Rays would be had they not been factory equipment? I bet at least $3K. The stock 19's are some of the best looking factory equipped wheels I seen in a long time.

The extra $3K for the sport package is cheap. Imagine buying and installing all those parts separately aftermarket, you'll pay a lot more. There's no aftermarket synchro-rev, but it wouldn't surprise me if they started doing it in the near future.

I'm surprised to see so many people talk about drive-out on this forum since everyone of us is from a different part of the country. TT&L fees go straight to the state, and someone states have higher/more fees than others, and some states are more OUTRAGEOUS than others...Registration in some states is less than $100, whereas California is in the HUNDREDS (like $500-$600)...tax rate is different per state...in Texas, it's 6.25%, and I know in some states, it's as high as 10%...and then there's leasing and the fees per state, and we won't even going into that...

It's best to consider what your purchasing price is...and always ask whether the dealership has any dealer fee, etc, etc...I remember years ago in Texas, many dealerships did a coupon book that every customer had to purchase...dealerships were charging anywhere from $200-$700 for those booklet, and unless you put a magnifying glass to your contract, you wouldn't have seen it...that practice has been long gone in the state of Texas, but they still have dealer fees...so look out for those, and ask up front...

Like Fusz said, also look out for dealer add-ons...you may see a car that costs $30,000 + $795 (dealer add-ons: tint, pintstripes, window etching...etc...) and that may make you think the total price of the vehicle is $30,795, when in fact it costed the dealership $100-$150 to do all of that, and the rest is profit...so when you get a discount off of the price, you think you're getting a fatter discount than the next guy, when in fact, the price was inflated to start with...

yes that is a great price, and most likely do-able these days, auto is a coupe hundred more than the manual , keep that in mind..

and imo syncro rev match is cool and prob sounds awesome, but its really not essential.. to me the biggest bummer of the base model is no LSD ...

but a nice aftermarket tru lsd for around $1300 would make this car complete for me...

the brakes are a close second on what i miss, but the car still stops just fine and i could certainly live without them. Websites have fromt and back kits for around 800 each. So basically you get the rims for free. But after I put my 15mm spacers on the rear, the stance of the car became way more aggressive and the 18s fit the stlying perfect imo.

I have a Monterey Blue 6MT, and I almost traded mine in for a 7AT Pearl White....and after driving and comparing them side-by-side, I decided to keep my 6MT MB...here's my reason:

Nissan did a pretty good job of offering colors and shades that all work equally as well on the car, which makes it really hard on the consumer to pick one!
