Yup they have DONE it! They dynoed their first Nissan 370Z. Even though they have not released the numbers yet. I don't know if they are told by Nissan not to release it or not. Here is the video

Looks like in the video they are doing base dyno. You can see in the following pictures that they have fabricated their own exhaust and put a aftermarket shoe for the White 370Z -- or should I say the Fairlady Z ;)

yes! can't wait to see the numbers. I do have to contact Nissan USA before I release the numbers (if I get a hold of those numbers). Nissan USA DID prohibited any tuner shop to do Dyno in the states. Z1 Motor Sports were ll <-- this close to dynoing the new Z but Nissan wouldn't' let them.

RCZ 12-11-2008 07:46 PM

Hmm, I hope thats for some other reason than the Z making no power or torque to the wheels and they dont want those findings released before they sell a few first ;)

Why would you have to contact them?

If they are not letting any shop Dyno here in the states, it means they do not want the numbers to be published at this moment. I wouldn't do anything against Nissan.

Nice find.

Wait for the numbers?
The numbers are up there... in the picture of the computer.
The top number on the readout says 208.5 KW which is 279.6HP

280/332 = about 15% drivetrain loss.. which sounds bang on.
I think that is what the G37 guys have been getting too. 270's.

Can't really read the rest of it, and I don't know whether this is baseline or with exhaust, but I would guess stock.

shumby 12-12-2008 01:05 AM

^^yep we are getting 270's to 280's stock depending on the dyno and location.

Why does Nissan not want anybody to dyno the Z over here?

I have no clue. Do they not realize we are going to find out sooner or later? or could it be that they are waiting for the release date? I am pulling some strings to get the exact release date. I'll let you guy know as soon as I get it. :tiphat:

I think so. It was in a sequence by the dyno pictures.

cstr_Cali 12-13-2008 11:40 PM

Of all the aftermarket exahaust systems I've seen for the 370 I find 5zingen's the most attractive.

shumby 12-14-2008 12:01 AM

wait fo Fast Intentions the sound is amazing.

My guess is that Nissan wants that info released at a specific time.

nogoodname 12-14-2008 09:11 AM

Nissan is mysterious, they always want you to find things out at the last second, which is the release date!!

Like when the G was coming out, no one had any info at all, barely any pics......then the release date......and bang.....info everywhere...lol

Haha, I think they did that on purpose. In addition to cold dyno numbers, I would also be interested in the hot dyno numbers. For some cars, the power lose are crazy during a hot run. I never looked at cars with their cold run numbers. Its like saying....well the 370z have 332 hp, when rwhp is what really matters. Unless your car runs cold all the time, the hot run number is more realistic more me.

Supergoji 12-17-2008 02:07 AM

I received an email late last night from 5Zigen. the person said that the 370z was riding the dyno with a prototype exhaust installed and that the Speed limiter 112 mph was reached before hitting max power.

so that 280hp number could be below what the real rating is.

which would be nice.

Sweet info, Supergoji! Thanks for the update. :excited:

shumby 12-17-2008 02:12 AM

112 mph? the G is limited at around 150 mph

112mph limiter sounds wrong

what gear on the 6 speed and 7 spoeed is the 1:1?

JDM cars have different rev limiter. 112 MPH sounds about right. Did you see the Top Gear episode of GTR testing where they (Japan) programmed GTR or other cars not to go above certain MPH on street roads?

shumby 12-17-2008 02:18 AM

nope missed that one thanks

Interesting. That really sucks though. I mean its one thing to have a limiter at 150 mph, but 112 mph seems annoying to me.

Not that anyone should go 112 mph on streets. Please obey all traffic laws.

cstr_Cali 12-17-2008 03:19 PM

The Japanese government demanded all domestic (Japanese) car makers install limiters on cars to inhibit illegal street racing. 112 mph is still plenty fast enough. You'd need to do a lot more than that to discourage the hobby. The laws do extend further than this as well.
