Only two small drawbacks as per tester.

1. Rearview Camera.
Check :) (2 days left)

2. Engine tone is not that great.
I disagree. I love the engine tone.

Other than that, they love it! They were VERY impressed by the STIG's time at the end! :driving:

Folks, "The Z car is BACK!"

Dav 06-16-2009 01:27 AM

But why, why are they saying you can't hear a "sports car noise"??
I remember Clarkson saying the same thing about the 350 and I didn't agree.
Yeah, that's not the best engine sound in the world, but you CAN'T say it doesn't sound good, especially at the exhaust (I heard rumors about a registered mark for the sound of the 350).
This car probably has some problems with TopGear, wether it is UK or Australia..

Dav, I think it's more like a personal opinion. I like the engine tone of the Z. It's not the best but it's not too bad. I think they liked the Z so much, that's the ONLY thing they come up with.

I am glad that Z put down a respectable number despite the heavy wind.

here's a list of top gear Australia lap times...notice the m3 with a time of 1:13.40..only 2 tenths quicker than the m3..but then again..this track supports smaller cars due to its tighter turns..still very impressive to nearly match a 60-70k 3-series flagship

edit: here is the link

So amaZin!

CrownR426 06-16-2009 03:37 PM

That's crazy!
Our baby is up there with the big dogs!
I did not expect the time difference to be that close with the M3.
But then again it was the STIG...

I'm amazed they cut to the in car video of the Stig and say "it sounds like it's running on 5 cylinders". Bull$hit, that sounded like a full-blooded V8 in that clip.

I'm also not thrilled they turned off SRM. Stig or not, the Z could rev match better and potentially be faster.

Finally, there was the wicked head-wind....and it STILL beat some big dogs. Pretty darn cool.

I do agree that the exhaust tones miss out on some of the burble...for example, the grumble as the revs drop as you let off the throttle. Do any of the aftermarket CBEs give that burble?

One_Quick_Z 06-16-2009 06:28 PM

I wonder if they tested the sport package with the bigger brakes and tires if the time would have improved.... you would almost think it would have to because of the better braking and handeling the car would have

It IS the sport package. In Australia they get the shitty 18" rims on the sport package.

:iagree:

I hear the middle east also gets self healing paint (see other thread) and the perpetually full gas tanks. Oil changes are cheap too.
