World Challenge 370Z Nismo Race Car Crash at Long Beach Grand Prix

I was watching the replay of the race and saw this weird accident.

I'm not sure what happened but the NISMO took a beating and still drove off!

Damn!

Did the driver hook 2nd rather than 4th and cause a compression lockup ?? Looks like he's lost the rear end on turn-in and was just a passenger thereafter ...

This race is run on a track that's normally a public street, some sections have no grip and you can easily lose it if you get into that part of the track.

That's what I think happened

Probably missed the braking zone... strangely, why would he down-shift during the turn? Is that the reason of the rear lock-up and spun....?? :icon14:

Hit that wall like a ton of bricks!

Amazing, it looked as though there was not to much damage to it for what seemed like a high impact crash.

I remember this happening a few weeks ago while watching the race. The announcer said they had been struggling with the brakes all weekend. Imagine that.

I wonder if it has anything to do with this

MacLean 05-10-2012 07:58 PM

WOW & damn...... Hopefully not too much damage done to the passenger side.

IIRC, Greg Shaffer is a member here, ask him?

Looked pretty bad, hopefully they were able to fix it in time for this weekend.

Yes he is, he hasn't posted an update to his thread for awhile.
