Dude,,, these guys will not get any hands on new Nissan cars.
they could have permission to push it to the limit like that, but making a bad professional impression, well....not that cool. chewing gum sound........... h o w a n n o y i n g

I felt the need to have to register and respond to this thread so I can clear up some things for you all.

Mike and Bling are not Nissan employees.
The car was a press car for Mike, not Bling.
Mike is an editorial writer for various media outlets.
Yes, they had bad judgment and got caught up in a ridiculous situation.

Mike is a well respected figure in the automotive community. You may recognize a LOT of his work in the tuner magazines that you see on stands today. He was the West Coast Editor for Modified Mag, and this can be verified in the last issue. He no longer works with Modified, but he has a number of freelance photography and editorial in other publications.

With that said, it was an idiotic thing to do- taking a press car for his own personal performance testing, and on top of it all, RECORDING and uploading the internet. But it's over. Whatever the fall out is, he will pay for his actions without a jury present.

People make mistakes, give him a break. Outside of this incident, he provides brilliant editorial and insight to our car world.

Thank you for making the situation more clear. I have not posted a word about this anywhere else, and I have not even mentioned it to anyone. My feeling is that this is a situation for Nissan and the two people in the video to resolve.

chinny 12-02-2008 10:00 PM

Damn and i couldnt even see the damn video, why does this smell like ******** ?

I really don't care how respected or liked someone is, it doesn't give them free license to do as they please.

The problem is it gives all journalists a bad name when one of them takes a press car, hands it over to an unauthorized user for their personal joyride session, and then uploads it on the internet as a joke.

If I were in charge at Nissan that would be the last time a press car was given out with free license to any journalist.

Myth is on point. It only takes one clown to screw things up for everyone else. The guy could have all the respect in the world for his work and still look like a fool doing something as stupid as this. I'm not going to drag the topic or Mike or Bling through the mud for having done something as dumb as they did. I'm just pissed because I love and respect Nissan and their products and its a shame to see a privilege taken and then abused, and for what? Less t han 15 minutes of fame? Please. Very sad.

KarbonXX 12-02-2008 11:41 PM

Man they F*cked that car up.

Crash 12-03-2008 03:05 AM

I missed it... Anyone save the video?

350ZED 12-03-2008 12:21 PM

The video was not uploaded for any of your enjoyment.

It was a video uploaded for private sharing amongst friends, and somehow it got leaked out into the internet. There were no tags, no advertising as it being a video for the 370Z, no threads to SHARE and show off.

This is all so childish.

If you are jealous because you will never have an opportunity to see a new car before it's official launch, then work toward it.

If you hate Mike for his unfair treatment of the car, then Myspace message him, since it has already been posted on this thread. This topic is dead, we all get the point... they are are idiots, they are d0ucheb@gs, they disrespected the car... everything has been said.

Hi Mike,

You still don't get it do you? Its not about doing something silly and emailing it to friends so you can giggle like little schoolgirls. Its about misuse of property and privileges. It wouldn't matter if the video remained private or leaked on the net.

Is tearing up a car for no reason part of the rights Nissan gives journalists when using their press cars? I can understand the need to push the car for tests, professional photos, commercials. But does Nissan's agreement allow you to do with the car as you wish for your own private giggle sessions amongst friends?

Yeah, didn't think so Mike. Hope you learned something.

I think we can all step back from the situation and take a breather. We've all spoken our piece on what happened and that should be the end of it. What goes round comes round, especially on the internet. Time to move on.

CrownR426 12-04-2008 12:03 AM

LOL...
I saw it on television yesterday.
Forgot what it was for though...
It is indeed a silly word.

Agreed.

I think we have come to the very end of this thread. Moral of the story is that people make mistakes and that's how they learn. We, as a 370Z enthusiast community, saw the video and decided to let Nissan USA make the final decision on what they want to do. Thanks DrMike for the well written letter and all the members for supporting him. This proves, what a true Z enthusiasts you guys are in this forum!!!

Nissan's action to remove the video was the best decision in my opinion. We didn't have to see the new Z gets tortured while Mike and Lance gets to keep their image. I'm pretty sure they have learn their mistake.

At this point, nothing more can come from this thread. If anyone has anything to say, you can say it in the next 24 hours because it will be locked soon.

"Bromance"!!! That's freaking comedy... I'm sorry I'm late, but that's just funny as hell. :D
