It took us about 20 cold minutes to get the shot.

Lighting is awesome.

i'm at a loss on this one, it says "5D" and "MkII" but then it says "17-35" (which i think is a nikon lens) and "nikon" so i'm like... ummmm? lol

Juan@AEperformance 10-12-2011 06:49 PM

they make a canon L series 17-35

HKYStormFront 10-12-2011 06:52 PM

do they? i had the 16-35 f/2.8 L (and there's a mark II version) but i don't think they made a 17-35... i have the 17-40 f/4 L as well, but that's a different lens as well

EazyD 10-12-2011 08:35 PM

My friend took this photo. You are rit to question the lens... It's a 5dMkII body with a Nikon lens attached! The image you see is actually three exposures: the full sky and house and car is one xposure. The headlights is another exposure. The grass thats lit up by the headlight is another exposure.

Not sure on exact settings, but he main sky/house/car exposure was probably something like 1 second. Just enough time to paint a little light with a flashlight around the car.

Thanks for the comments! I'll pass them along (or you should, on his Flickr page!)

i had a feeling that was a composite shot, just didn't seem to be like you would get much detail with the headlights on the same exposure as the background... good to know

Amuse370 10-12-2011 09:52 PM

Wow that is a sick shot.

The exposure that was the meat of the shot (sky, car, house) had the headlights off. That made it easy to keep all the detail of the nose of the car.
