San Jose "Follow the Z" pics

I just returned from the "Follow the Z" event down in San Jose at Z Car Garage, where the car was unveiled for a handful of people who made it out.

First off, everyone from Z Car Garage was a real pleasure to meet, very nice and genuine people that made the whole event very welcoming.

On to the car...

Let me preface all my comments by saying that, for some unknown reason, they brought the two (imo) least attractive colors possible. Though they did look much better in person than in pictures, bringing a black and silver or red would have been a MUCH wiser decision.

Ok so the car is much better looking person, very attractive stance and proportions. All of the flaws look like they would be easy fixes (ride height, front/rear, wheels etc...) and the foundation of the car, the shape, the essence is just fabulous.

Sitting in the car gave me warm fuzzy feeling on the inside. It just felt right. Though I will say it lacked the raw presence that the 350 did when I first sat in that car (and I like the 350's interior design, just not the materials). The 370 is driver focused on the inside and very comfortable, I am 6'3" and I fit like a glove. My only grip is the shift knob. It feels a little tall and cumbersome, also it is not the most attractive piece of the interior. Again though, an easy fix.

Overall I really liked the car, I will spare the long drawn out review and post pics. A few other cars were there so they may have gotten in some of the shots ;)

Very very well done! I took pics at the L.A. Autoshow today and they most certainly don't come anywhere close to your in terms of quality (what kind of camera do you have???). The one Z on site at the show was on a platform sectioned off for no one to sit in which was really irritating; with L.A. being such a big show you'd think they'd have cars for show attendees to sit in. I really wanted to sit in the car to see if I could fit it comfortably or not. Now I have to wait two freak'n months before I can sit in one. I'm bummed.

Awesome first post, welcome aboard. :tiphat:

Thanks much guys!...

The camera is a canon EOS rebel xti with kit lens, though I thought it did a nice job with these pics.

It is a shame you didn't get a chance to sit in the car cstr, it really is a defining characteristic of experiencing the car in person.

Not much longer though and we will all get to experience the car the way it was meant to be.

First of all, welcome to forums. Thank you for taking your time and registering at The370Z.com.

Those are some really good shots! Good camera and picture taking skills. You also wrote a good description as well. This thread is a perfect candidate for this Contest

The car looks great! BTW, how did you like the headlights? From the pictures, they look absolutely amazing and flows really well with the car. Also, you mention the shifter has EVEN longer throw now?? I thought 350Z had a long throw and this is even longer?? I guess they (aftermarket companies) better start researching on the short shifter :D

Thanks for the pictures. Glad to see you here.

P.S. We need more pictures of this car?

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, means a lot.

Design is my lively hood and I love using it in the realm of my passion (automobiles). Looks like a great contest, I would love to be involved!

About the shifter - maybe other people can chime in as well. I felt it was taller than the 350. Granted I sold my 350 about a year ago, but I have driven several since then, including as recently as a few weeks ago. Playing with the sifter I got the sense that it was a longer throw than I was used to, my Z was an 03 and it had a relatively short throw I felt, with a much shorter (physically) shifter. (my opinions are all relative of course, as I haven't really driven a wide variety of sports cars to make a proper assessment)

In person the headlights do not jump out at me nearly as much as in pictures. Standing next to it they really jive with the rest of the car and they just feel natural to me. I didn't even really find myself staring at them, other than to admire their detail. My feeling is that the lights will grow on people in time, they have on myself already.

I remember when I first saw the Z33 I thought the tail lights were quite odd as they were so long and angular, but after seeing it in person I fell in love.

As for the 240, the shot of the badge and the engine are the only two, sorry :(
Other shots of the car can be seen here though:
Z-Car Garage's 1970 Datsun 240z
and here
Z-Car Blog (scroll down, it is on a mag cover with a Z33)

Again, thanks for the warm welcome, I look forward to being a part of and contributing to the community.

These pictures are the best pictures, yet, that i've seen so far in terms of quality. They show in a more detailed way the quality of the materials Nissan used in the interiors and exteriors.
Just wow for the limited space that was in the area and perspective of the pictures because of the limited space.

nice nice!

and last, that GT-R.....looks sick..........damm.
