Its official, your car is my favorite on the forum. Such a perfect balance of mods to keep it looking clean, yet distinguished. Great photos and great work.

Just enough done to make it "different" without being annoying.

Wow, thanks. I definitely was going for something subtle, but enough to make you look twice.

Dang your blue is amazing in the pic ;o

I'm just disappointed the blue doesn't look like that in person. I've test driven 2 blue Zs and they look more pasty in person.

Thats what I like about the blue; its very dynamic and looks so different in every lighting situation

Ahhh the good ol' $100 lens that takes crisper shots than 95% of the other lens'. I use it mostly for low aperture shots of my dogs and things. I'm still a photo rookie and haven't thought to use it on my car with a higher aperature. What was it set at ? 12ish?

Also how do you keep your front bumper so fresh. Mine has so many chips !!! These the best photos I have seen. With 98intrigue and nitrous with his 40th pictures right behind. I have to get my chipped bumper fixed and take some shots with that lens. Tripod is a must though as that lens does not have iS. I have a rebel xsi, but my girls cousin has one of the top of the line cameras with all different L lenses and I asked what the best lens for my camera would be and he said the 50 1.8mm. Now I know why!

If I inspirred you to go spacers and a drop you've now inspired me to do stollen lip, eve sides, and shine rears haha. So don't me mad when my cars the white version of yours. Lmao

Youre cars now my iPads background. ...

Ap varied from 5.0 to 13.0 throughout the pics. Its a great lens, I have always liked it for capturing single car photos.
As for the bumper, I have a few rock chips, but not many. I had some light ones on the hood also, but the drcolorchip kit helped with that. I just try to drive a good distance behind larger cars/trucks and avoid any loose gravel.
As for the the lip and sides, do it! You're in another state so I dont mind :icon17:

Some new wheels are definitely needed, what are you planning?

Wheels indeed! Thinking 20", wide, and step lip is what I want. Just tid bit of poke and stretch, nothing over the top or dramatic. I think it will suit the current setup nicely.
Work T1S, Gnosis GS5, or SSR SP3 if I can afford a used set. I originally wanted white TE's or CE's, but a few have beat me to it :(

Fantastic photos OP. Only suggestion is to either get a light meter or write down your exposure settings. Your exposure is getting washed out when you have the headlights on because your camera is compensating for the extra light emitted. After you have the right exposure in aperture priority, without the headlights, use manual mode with those settings. Everything else is perfect.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try that next night shoot I have, I do like the sinister look in the photos though

It was never my plan to get the Z to this point. I'm glad that the few mods I have chosen are seen as a good combination in everyone's eyes. You guys are awesome :hello:

Red__Zed 04-20-2011 12:01 AM

Honestly, I've never been a fan of the stillen lip, but your pics have me pretty tempted by it.

ituan 04-20-2011 02:02 AM

great shots!

Viera 04-20-2011 07:50 AM

Awesome blue, bro! ;)

98intrigue 04-20-2011 09:51 AM

You take better pictures than me :( haha. These are awesome! I've never seen anyone capture the MB color like you do. Your car is still my favorite 370Z on stock wheels.

Boost_lee 04-20-2011 11:17 AM

Sell me your SSR's for 50% so we can change that lol :D

Thanks folks. Honestly, I wasnt a fan of the stillen lip either until I saw it in person. Its a bit out of place on its own, but compliments the blades perfectly.

RCZ 04-20-2011 11:24 AM

This is one of the best photoshoots I've seen since I joined this board. Hands down one of the better looking cars out there too. So simple and clean, but well rounded. Nice man! Your car really influences me.

TypeOne 04-20-2011 04:06 PM

Stillen lip = win!

The easiest way is to just set your metering to spot meter rather than area, and then meter the spot you want with a single focus point. Then if that isn't the spot you want to focus on, just AE lock the exposure with the AE lock button.. and then focus on what you want.

Or, just shoot manual.

Boost Lee, Your car was what helped convince me to get an MB Z. I love the way it looks, simple and clean. Looking at it right away you may not realize its modified [to the untrained eye] until you really start to pay attention. That is the kind of car that I like... because it all flows and looks like it is meant to be there.

Or that....

Like I said. I like using what the camera choses as a starting point and switching over to manual. Spot metering doesn't always get it right, but it does get you close most of the time. I don't like having to go through the AE lock process after every shot. Once you get the settings right in manual mode, you can shoot away knowing every shot is consistent and only concern yourself with composition. I like having a light meter even better for situations like this. It's basically a giant studio with fixed and controlled lighting.
