Cool vid, gopro camera? Don't feel bad, I drive like this on a daily basis lol.

flashburn 04-10-2011 11:11 AM

Holy sheet. VDC FTW?

We all have our lapses of judgement, and it seems like sometimes a camera only aids that problem. :rofl2:

You were lucky, and hopefully you learned from it. That's how I always look at it when I do something stupid.

murphman 04-10-2011 12:04 PM

haha yeah that can be a little scary specially if you were not intending to do it. Ive actually had vdc on and did that maybe a little worse after leaving the dealership. They put tire shine on my tires and I didnt realize how slick they were but i sure did find out.

RedBullRR 04-10-2011 12:28 PM

Not enough lean angle?! LoL

Footloose301 04-10-2011 01:06 PM

Could have sworn I saw 30mph speed limit signs....

EazyD 04-10-2011 01:26 PM

Haha thanks for the comments. The camera is just a Flipcam with a Delkin Fat Gecko suction camera mount on my license plate holder. $35 mount.

Yes, vdc was on. Yes, heart was pounding afterwards.

370z TT 04-10-2011 01:28 PM

I've done that a million times, just always keep the vdc on unless you want to truly know the limits of the car. Without vdc that would have been very bad....

Waiz 04-10-2011 01:41 PM

You were for sure going to fast though for that narrow of a road.

Thx, another two constructive comments. The sharp corner also got.sharper in the middle and was bumpy as you can see - another loss of traction. I think the camera made me want to push it.

Ughhh. This is just after posting my 141mph GPS max speed picture trophy on another thread. Is this out of my system now?

cfweber 04-10-2011 02:54 PM

that road looked familiar

yeah the condition of the road got you I think

were you in 3rd?

no harm

enjoy your Spring

Have a good and safe spring yourself! Road is near Umass.

:iagree:

Didn't really look like the best road to be doing that on. As long as you learn. :)

Forrest 04-10-2011 06:57 PM

Ahhh the shenanegins this car makes you want to do. But after a few scares like that you quickly calm down. At least I did.

:werd:

I had a similar incident recently, but it didn't turn out so well. Of course it could have been a lot worse, but I'm lucky it didn't. Two of my tires went off the road a bit and I got a scrape on the bottom of my front bumper. Learned my lesson though

Xan 04-10-2011 07:37 PM

Dude, take it to the track!

Trust me, even completely stock the car is a lot of fun on the track...

I was referring to oil cooler, brake pads, etc. I don't think I would last very long on the track without those. The nearest track is also like 3 hrs away so it might not be worth it. I might do something like autocross in the mean time though.

driver06 04-10-2011 08:27 PM

You drive at way to high of an rpm for the street.. you could go even faster if you stay in a lower gear and just let your momentum carry you through turns. As far as your "incident",It wasnt that bad, the car straightened itself out for you, you were lucky. You just have to be more careful, being that there are other cars sharing the road with you..
The stock Z is a lot of fun at the track, I did quite a few events when mine was bone stock (just the diff and pads). Its just a lot more fun when its turbo ;)

This is why its risky to do this on public roads....a little dirt patch or bump unsettling a loaded suspension and next thing you know you're in someone's yard.

I went completely sideways yesterday going 55 in the freeway (hit a big puddle).

Man that's crazy. Every time I begin to spin out in the rain, VDC always saves me.

I don't get it...?
What was so wrong about this video?
Seems like a normal cruise to me.

... watch around the 1:15 mark.

Not to mention he is going much faster than the posted 30mph speed limit.

DIGItonium 04-11-2011 11:46 AM

Scary especially with those pot holes... even at safe speeds and taking a turn, hitting those pot holes is an eye opener. BTW, can you do this in 3D? :)

EazyD 04-12-2011 03:37 PM

^sure! buy me a 3d gopro :)

CrownR426 04-12-2011 04:47 PM

OH haha!
Yes I definetly would not want to be posting this video knowing how many cops patrol this forums and they probably know your Z now!
:O

I agree...that little kick out at 1:15 wasn't much to get your panties all bunched up over! The Z has a tendency to snap out pretty hard sometimes, but I guess after a while you understand your setups limits and are more ready for it when it can happen (especially if you always drive around with VDC off). The Z is actually a very easy car to learn to control when you're Tokyo Drifting around town, accidental or not.

As intrusive as VDC is, it seems to do a good job of sorting out these kinds of unexpected situations. If anything, the takeaway from this is keep VDC on unless you are very familiar with the condition of the roads you are driving on... or shut it off and stay within the speed limit:ugh2:

FastPaced 04-12-2011 06:28 PM

I would of **** my pants for a second, but check out this guy when this happens to him on a much severe level.

#1 rule of drive club is know the road you are driving fast on, every inch of it.
#2 rule of drive club is to ensure rule #1 is followed.
#3 rule of drive club is to not push the limits around other cars or homes.
:shakes head:
