My Story (Good Pics)

I thought I'd take some time to tell my story real quick. I first fell in love with the Z growing up as my dad owned a 72' 240. So I being a kid that always admired my dad for everything. I grew up with the passion of this wonderful car and it's history. My dad also used to race formula vee cars if anyone has heard of those. It's a small open wheel car. So I grew up admiring that also. So obviously I somewhat combined the two. Just hope to track this new Z more than ever before I get to old. Only 32 now. I grew up with the 240 in the back of my head then my friends mom bought a 300ZX and that sparked it all over again with that wonderful car. So that day I said I would own one one day. Of course the Z disappeared but luckily they came back with the 350. I eventually got a 2005. Well I spent three years working on it and loved it so much. I'll let the pics talk.

Well after all that, one day in Jan. on a spirted drive threw the mountains cold weather and lots of pea gravel that covered a both lanes of a hard turn I sled threw and off the moutain. No guardrails at that point of the trip. I almost saved it but ran out of road. I'm telling you three more foot of road could of changed this. It teeter tottered off the side and with all the momentum it went of side over side. I somewhat remember rolling I think four times. Good thing for my Sparco seats and harness. Good thing for my buddy Sharif at Forged Performance who saw this unfold in his rear view mirror. For we had left the rest of the pack behind us. I don't think if he didn't see this happen that the rest of the pack wouldn't of saw me down there. For it was a big drop off. I wish I knew the footage. R.I.P.

Well I survived and moved immediate into a G37.

Then I shortly fell in love and sold the car. Will never, never do that again. After three more years I'm here posting pics of my new love. These are just some quick pics I took at a buddies house today to get this up and going. Will have some better ones to come later in the future.

I plan again to go all out on this ride also. Just not over a mountain. Knock on wood. I just order my wheels today. Should be ordering coilovers next week along with all the suspension goodies. Then over the next three months I will have covered alot of ground with this project. I'm fortunate to have a little bit of money coming to me. So I can't wait. I'll keep you updated with my journel to come in the gallery section. Thanks for your time. I aplogize for any grammer or spelling errors. Not the best at it. I welcome any questions and or comments.

wheee! 01-14-2011 09:23 PM

wow. Looking forward to seeing the mods!

Xan 01-14-2011 09:23 PM

Thanks for sharing!

If you are doing spirited driving and doing coilovers, think about an LSD as well!
It will help you keep the car on the road...

That is one of the first things I'm doing. Didn't have it last time. Going tomorrow to ask questions.

I would look at the OS Giken and Carbonetics.

Not sure if they have one that fits, but look at an LSD cover while you're at it as well...

SPOHN 01-14-2011 09:46 PM

Been looking the OS Giken and the Nismo cover.

Good choice! (that's the one I would get)

ThoriumHotdog 01-14-2011 11:16 PM

Wow. Glad to see you made it. I was half expecting a "I bought a Z and then put some vinyl on it" story. Wow.

Waiz 01-15-2011 12:11 AM

Welcome back to the Z mafia, you can try to leave but you never can

djpathfinder 01-15-2011 12:31 AM

So unfortunate about the 350Z. Glad you survived and moved on. Looking forward to see how your 370Z turns out.

Junior370z 01-15-2011 01:28 AM

I'm glad you walked away from that! That's crazy... Have fun modding you new Z!

SPOHN 01-15-2011 01:09 PM

Thanks guys. I can't wait to see how it turns out myself. I would of already bought some more goodies by now. But I'm really taking it slow, making sure I make good decisions. Best bang for the buck/ quality.

bleufiend 01-15-2011 03:42 PM

Sad to see a demise to such a nice 350z but it all worked out so thats good :)

SPOHN 01-15-2011 03:53 PM

It was. It was really bad for Geico also. Didn't go back to them this time. You know they would remember. The car was just about paid for.

m4a1mustang 01-15-2011 03:57 PM

Wow, glad you walked away from the 350 wreck. That was a nice car.

Good luck with the new Z!

CrownR426 01-15-2011 04:19 PM

Very sick z, you kept your previous z in great shape btw!
I can see this turning into a great journal!
Be safer please

ZeeingAround 01-15-2011 07:22 PM

seungklee 01-16-2011 01:44 AM

Important thing is that you're alive and well. Enjoy modding the car and it's good to take it slow!

There's no such thing as modding slowly in my back :driving:

SPOHN 01-16-2011 10:18 AM

That's true.

BeachZTT 01-16-2011 11:17 AM

Sorry for your loss. That was a beautiful 350! Really glad you are ok. This is exactly why I love the Z community. Stories like this (minus the catastrophic off road excursion) are everywhere. I attribute it to the mind control devices built into the Z. Once you get in one, you're done. :ughdance:

That's the bad part I guess. The coilovers are going to be several weeks at the most. But you know how that goes.

tonybui 01-18-2011 04:59 PM

Damn, your 370z looks so ugly compare to the old 350z !!

I know it's gonna change soon though !!

SPOHN 01-18-2011 06:12 PM

That's funny. Hopefully most of what I want will be done in three months. Then I'll carry it out for the rest of the year buyng things here and there. I'm already running into things like it will take two months here three months there for parts. Part of the game.

shoopajae10 01-19-2011 05:33 PM

I'm always scared something like this will happen to me one day. Things like this always reminds me to drive carefully around local roads.

Anyway, glad to see you back in a Z!

SPOHN 01-19-2011 06:44 PM

It can happen. I fill as I'm a good overall driver. That day was just bad circumstances. It was cold, the moutain had snow and ice at the top. But there was lots of pea gravel everywhere. More so where this happen. The hole turn was covered and I was trying to maintain my lane and line. Which in turn didn't give me enough road. There wasn't ice or snow where this went down. I couldn't of been going more than 45mph. I had just came out of a hard right uphill turn. I went to hit third gear and wasn't in it to long as the next turn came quickly. I was in the gravel before the turn and as I started to brake it just slide staright at first with some control but not enough as I went threw the turn. I had the car about stop but not enough.

This has scared me though. You know how that say you fall down get back up and do it again. Well I never did so I still have some fear to over come. But I think on a positive note for that day I was pushing it and if you push it and these things happen you learn from them and get better. You can't become good or better driver unless you push yourself and your car. If you never have spun out at the track then you are not pushing and testing yourself to become better. And I know I wasn't at the track that day!
