oil does not know time and there is no need to change a synthetic oil before 10000 miles as long youre not doing short trips that dont bring it up to hot temperature

I run full synthetic Mobil 1 and after 5000 miles the color is pretty dark brown. To play it safe, I would change every 5k if I were you

I do drive hard daily though

The darker color of the oil indicates that its detergent is doing its job and it is not an indication of its effectiveness.

There are quite a few performance cars use M-1 full sync as factory fill and the oci is more than 10k miles.

However, it doesn't hurt anything if change at 5k miles.

I tend to agree with this, at least the time part. I dunno about 10K on synthetic, but I'd certainly do 5K if I were not driving the car hard... 10K would be like 3 - 4 years for me.

Anyway, I put my car up around November right after an oil change, and in 6 months it's May and I have put like 1,000 miles on the car. Is my oil "used"? Not really. I change it anyway, because that's how Nissan says the car must be maintained, but if there were no warranty constraints I certainly would not.

^^^^ This guy.

The myth of discolored oil being a BAD thing is still strong. Oil is a lubricant and also a cleaner - it's SUPPOSED to look dirty.

Have fun when you need an engine block replacement under warranty and the dealer denies coverage because you went over the recommended oci. You wouldn't be the first one that's happened to

Yah just follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

I know some cars do have like a 10k+ miles interval.

My mom's Mercury Milan hybrid has a 12K mile dealer recommended oci. And she still misses it

Just throwing this out there, brake fluid should be changed every three years.

Yes!!!! Don't give Nissan any excuses to deny the warranty claims. Those pathetic stealers would probably deny warranty work on the A/C due to oci.

Porsche and BMW all have OCI beyond 10k miles. My M3 was like 15k miles, but most owners do it half that at around 8k.

I still don't see the logics behind Nissan's oci recommendation of less than 4k miles (or even 7.5k) as they have improved the V6 motor quite a bit over the years, other than $$$ from the services.

Some brake fluid is rated for three years. But many performance brake fluids are not designed to last that long. I try not to go more than a year. A $70 power bleeder one time cost and $40 or so for Motul RBF600 each flush just isn't enough for me to worry about trying to maximize the life of my brake fluid.

That is just my thoughts on the Z. Most mass produced sedans are now using OEM brake fluid that is designed for 2-3 year change intervals. My wife drives an Acura with a three year lease, and I don't have screw with anything except tire inflation and oil changes.
