That free first oil change...

I was wondering if I can go into another dealership to get my free first oil change, other than the dealership that I bought my car from?

The dealership where I bought my Z from is pretty far from where I live. I hope the Nissan dealerships near me will acknowledge the free first oil change.

Jesse_Hunter 06-14-2010 08:46 AM

I was in same situation, I had to pay. Although I didn't push the issue that hard so, idk.

370Z JT 06-14-2010 11:41 AM

Yea I don't you can. Just had mine done on saturday. He said the first oil change was paid by the sales department when buying the vehicle.

TongMan 06-14-2010 03:02 PM

Dang! How much did it cost you to get an oil change from the dealership? I remember the finance guy was telling me that it cost $149 for every oil change and was pushing the "Maintenance Package" on me.

DRoc7822 06-14-2010 03:20 PM

hahahaha.... if it costs 149 each time you get an oil change then Id be running to trade the car in. As thats just CRRAAAZZYY! Id also be changing the oil every 20k miles instead of 5-7500k like it says lol.

kenchan 06-14-2010 03:21 PM

$149?! Lol :D

TongMan 06-14-2010 06:08 PM

Yea it was pretty funny listening to him talk about how much money I'd save by purchasing the "Maintenance Package". When I told him that I may just do the oil changes myself, he replied that I could not do it as the transmission was "sealed" from the factory. I gave him a weird look and then denied to purchase the "Maintenance Package".

370Z JT 06-15-2010 02:21 AM

Oil change was 29.99.

My first oil change at the dealer cost $84, rich

Big J 06-26-2010 11:28 PM

It's not actually too bad. I am getting used to it. Takes me 5 minute (if that). I like the fact my engine is protected from debris and rocks from underneath with this plastic cover. :twocents)

murphman 06-27-2010 08:42 PM

I'm sure its not $149 for an oil change but if they tried to get you to pay that much i wouldnt be suprised. I use to have a Cadillac CTS and it was being serviced I asked how much it costs to get the brakes done and he quoted over $600 dollars. Im sure they draind the brake fuild and all but still... cmon man. But yeah the only reason i dont change my oil myself like AK and a lot of people is cause i happen to get a free year of changes.

It is not necessary to remove any more the 4 bolts to gain access that allows oil draining and install of new oil filter.

All new Z owners get their first oil change for free or is that something only a few dealerships offer? No one mentioned that to me when I bought my car

All part of the deal you make when you purchase your car. Some people get a Nissan hat, others got a free oil change. I got a free hand shake.

No kidding? No one mentioned it that I recall.

Huh... guess I'll ask for it and see what they say then... neat-o :tiphat:

PM sent

Just made an appointment for my first oil change. They quoted me $89.00 parts + labor. I also bought my Z from a dealer far away from home and don't want to travel that far for my free oil change....lol.

Push370zzz 07-14-2010 03:21 PM

when the dealer told me almost $100 for a change I went and bought 6 quarts of RP, ramps, drain pan, slider to get under the car, and an oil filter...total cost = $95. Next oil change will cost me about $40 for better oil than the dealer gives me anyways.

Rhinetom 07-15-2010 09:20 AM

World Car Nissan, San Antonio, where I bought my car gave me the first change for free.

Footloose301 07-15-2010 09:52 AM

I signed up for the maintenance program. It covers all oil changes for the next 4 years...... Figured I'd sign up and wrap it into the loan so I could get my oil changes slightly cheaper than individual oil changes at the dealer. Also, I don't know how to save money, so I can still get my oil changed my the "mechanics" with just $2 in my bank.:driving:

Bummer is that I would have liked to change the oil every 3000 miles but my program is set up for 7500 miles. I bought the car with 16,200 miles and I've got 21,000 on it now. So, I'll get it done soon.

Jordo! 07-19-2010 02:51 PM

Whoa -- you guys were right! Although no one mentioend this (that I recall) during the deal, the dealership will do the 1st oil change for free! :excited:

Just curious, but do they charge you some nominal amount if you insist on the Ester oil?

I'm also going have them set my auto headlight timer to 0, anything else I should tell them to do while I'm there?

Reset my flux capacitor? Grease and reload the twin gatling guns? What?

navamous 07-19-2010 08:45 PM

Sup guys, just got my first oil done at the local Nissan dealership here in Hayward, Ca. In the invoice it says synthetic oil change. When I called the dealershp initially, they told me they only use ester based oil only on the 370Z. So I figure the Nissan ester based oil has synthetic correct?

From what I understand that is presently unknown. Given the presence of esters, it is presumably at least a synthetic blend.

Jordo! 07-22-2010 03:52 AM

Whoever I set the apointment with lied to me about the free oil change :shakes head:

But... I did get 10% off. Oh well...
