Is the belt under warranty??

Hey guys.. 2 days ago my engine belt snapped I dont know why.. but it just happened.. and im glad it did when i was close to home.. it was unbelievble its sooo hard to turn my steering wheels.. so on i arrive home.. i opened the hood and i found the belt is all over the radiator.. its like i can pull it off i want to.. so the next day i took to the dealer.. ofcourse by a recovery vehicle lool... they said that the belt is not under warranty... i was in hurry so i told them okey ill pay for it but just fix it and see whats wrong with it... Now before they call me and tell me that the car is finished.. i have a question is the belt really not covered under warranty?? I barely have 18k miles on my car.

I just checked Infiniti Homepage

Unlike US where it automatically comes with 3 year 36000 miles warranty, looks like you have to buy warranty from the dealer when you purchase your car in Dubai. Take a look at this chart

Infiniti: Service Contracts

Do you have (did you buy) any warranty on your car? Also, even if you didn't, I don't see them charging a lot of money just to change your belt.

Keep us posted.

I still didnt pay them anything though.. ill pay after they finish my car.. but i would like to see if its really covered by warranty or not.... bcuz if yes then they see wont see a cent from my pocket

Stuff that is subject to normal wear and tear -- tires, belts, filters, brake pads, etc. are typically not covered under warranty. What does your warranty booklet say?

Wear and tear, not covered. But that doesn't mean you can't get a goodwill claim done by your dealer. Just depends if they will work with you are not.

It looks like the OP's dealership is somewhat lacking in goodwill .... Luckily a power steering belt is probably relatively cheap to repair

I would hope my belts under the 3 year warranty. most of these stock OEM ones last 100k miles.

It's a wear and tear item that wouldn't normally be covered, but given that it failed in such a short period of time I would consider this a manufacturer defect which should be covered provided the belt routing hasn't be modified in any way (aftermarket pulley etc).

Infiniti's in the U.S. have a 60,000 mi. warranty.

They rarely last that long, most start cracking after 30-40k at least all of the Z's and Maxima's I have had.

Warranties will be different in each country. I think about the only place you get a 3 yr , 36mths is in the US. I know in Germany a brand new BMW with Canadian/US Specs only had one year of warranty in GE the rest was in the states.
