Kind if off topic, but im curious who has gone the furthest on the stock CSC? Im at 52k miles and no problems yet.

kenchan 01-19-2015 11:50 AM

no worries, will break tomorrow.

I couldn't find it

and also when I went to the car to check the fluid level, this is what I saw....

I'm assuming the cap at the top right corner belongs to brake fluid reservoir...

the cap was off and it was place on the windshield and the hood closed...

last time this hood was opened was when the dealership had it last month....

Could I have been driving over a month with the cap off like that?

wft?

edit: that's the clutch fluid reservoir smh.....

I've closed it but the level is very low

Would filling this up fix the issue?

holyshitt that's black! should be a clear light yellow color like the brake fluid next to it. :icon17:

after you get it fixed, search the ranger method. you dont need anything but a turkey baster to do the drain/fill.

kenchan 01-19-2015 11:54 AM

btw, not sure which brake fluid you're using but my brake fluid is a lot less yellow then that.. should get all the fluid changed.

But keep in mind i'm 95% of the time on open hwy, not a lot of need to shift.

Ive pretty much accepted that its going to happen and when it does ill have to pony up for a new clutch and CSC. Hope its later than sooner.

90 ST 01-19-2015 02:15 PM

as long as you know, the only real crappy part is the OE clutch and flywheel are not cheap, order all aftermarket from the same place at the same time, that way it's a one and done repair and everything works together.

4TthAnnyZ 01-19-2015 03:44 PM

I have no intention of putting an OEM clutch back in. Ill keep factory flywheel.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but the factory is a dual mass type, so you'll have to change both.

JARblue 01-19-2015 05:25 PM

^this^

More chatter but faster revs with a lighter flywheel. The OEM one weighs like 30 lbs or something deliberately to dampen the chatter. Lightweight aftermarket ones are half that.

4TthAnnyZ 01-19-2015 05:31 PM

Well regardless, I wont buy a lightweight flywheel, I've had them and they suck for street use.

mishuko 01-19-2015 06:24 PM

90 ST is honestly the source to go to if you are worried about anything. The guy has over 200k miles (converted) in canadia weather.

He says he doesn't shift much but I call bs... =P

Ask him if he still makes his car haul arse and you'll be pleasantly surprised (or check his 200k mile club problem thread)

I haven't had it over 145mph in weeks...lol

Even if you don't go lightweight you will have to swap to a standard flywheel vs a dual mass, not sure anyone makes a replacement clutch for the OE style flywheel. Besides the fell is a lot nicer, IMO.

You can go with an aftermaket clutch kit and still use the stock flywheel.

Well I don't know if you can use a high speed twin disk type clutch with the stock flywheel, but single disks will work like a Southbend stage 1-3 or JWT kit.

how come the csc hasn't been issued a recall yet. aren't the japanese supposed to take pride in their workmanship? :shakes head:

stuff like that makes me not want to buy a product from a company anymore... you know you have a issue, but you refuse to fix or offer a solution to your customers.

Zbrah 01-20-2015 11:09 AM

More people need to file complaints with NHTSA to fire a cannon up Nissan's *** for recall to happens. So many owners are getting stranded lately, this csc issue is really getting out of hand!

i think everyone that had their csc go out should fill this out. might be the only way to get our voices heard at least a little bit.

FairladyZ10PG 01-20-2015 11:29 AM

i'd probably get this if i was in your shoes

Z1 Clutch Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) Elimination Kit

FairladyZ10PG 01-20-2015 11:44 AM

^I would if they could find this by end of today....
most likely the chances are slim but will let the mechanic know about this
seems like z1 products come highly recommended

FairladyZ10PG 01-20-2015 12:28 PM

maybe make a poll?

it think it has to do with how abruptly you work the clutch pedal repeatedly.

it does seem that way, but i saw a couple people comment on some other threads that don't even have 15,000 miles and it goes out. i go through traffic every day constantly shifting and i'm at 17,500 miles in 9 months and so far nothing.

but i do like the poll idea

yah, high repetition in short amount of time probably generates heat... keep it up, the seals break. probably something stupid simple as that.
