Resonated test pipe noise
Hey guys. I installed my FI resonated test pipes last week. I have their cat back with 18 resonators. We took it for a test drive and sounded fine, but I noticed after I left when I push the car hard it makes this high pitched vibrating sound. It sounds like it is coming from where the test pipes are, but i could be wrong.
Is this sound normal for resonated test pipes? I have to wait till monday to bring it to the shop. |
Vibrating? Or wooshing sound?
|
This noise you speak of is called RASP, it will happen once you go catless. check for leaks as they make the rasp more louder. if there are no leaks you will have to live with the raspy noise or go HFC instead of Test pipes
|
Not the hiss noise. I'm aware of that.
Thanks david. I was afraid thats what it was. I thought the resonators gets rid of the rasp. |
Check all the hardware

RTPS and 18" res CBE should not be THAT raspy.. I ran non res TPs and a non res CBE on my G37 and it wasn't all that raspy IMO
|
Ok..So I should expect some rasp. Hopefully theres a leak or ill have a set of test pipes for sale soon. Its annoying.
