How far can you drive the car without the the keyfob?
 

I tried doing a search but couldn't find a thread so:

Here's the scenario, I leave my car running and run step out for a second with the key in my pocket, someone else jumps into my car and drives off, how far can they drive? Or will they be able to drive until they turn off the car and just can't start again?

I can see the liability issue for Nissan if say, I accidentally drive off and leave my fob in my house when I went back to grab my phone and left my fob at home and the car drives for so many minutes and just all of a suddenly dies on the freeway, and someone rear-ends me and I break my neck due to the fact that the car just died while I was in the middle of a situation...

I guess it's kinda like booby trap, you set it up, but if a robber tries to rob your house and he gets hurt by it, then you can go to jail for setting it up....

ok, I'm rambling...so...anyone know the answer?

Simple, lock the car whenever you exit the vehicle.

1. Smash window of car with engine running, doors locked
2. Drive off
3. Chop shop
4. ???
5. Profit

Turn off your car. Problem solved.

Sounds like the smart thing to do when car is running.I never leave the car running.If I have to leave I shut it off and lock it.
These Z's are hot items and we have to be aware all the time.

lol!Don't worry i'am always aware since the last incident!I try to do all my farting prior to entering the car.Then again an unexpected burst can happen as before!

well, I know about locking my door when I get out of my car and it still running...I'm just curious to know how far you can get without the fob...I guess until you turn off the car

I Agree, the car will stay on until you it get's turned off and a that time if there's no fob near it's not starting again!
