GTM SUPERCAR.........or custom build 370z??? what would you pick?
Hi everyone, here's the fork in the road. Theres this umm kit car manufacturer called Factory five and they produce this kit car called the GTM supercar(google it) now if you have never heard of them plz visit their site.
Now i heard some goood things about this kit car using LS engine, porches transmission and vettes suspension. In total the car should cost about 50k in parts, (labor is on me). Or 370z with built engine having titanium internals, TT kit using BrogWarner turbos, adj cusco lsd, os giken transmission gears and all other best stuff on earth in it. What do you guys think? Should i sell my Z and start building a GTM? Plz help with your honest opinions ty. |
It would be a fun project and a great final product. I have a customer that builds different factory five cars and shows them at SEMA. He did a beautiful gold one a few years back that I did the calipers for. Right now, he is building that new WRX based roadster kit.

I remember my uncle talking about the gtm a few years back and about dropping a LS motor in it, he was all for it until the GTR came back out. the Honda Attack is a sick looking kit car but I think it's expensive.
Honestly you can't really go wrong both ways, but me being a z guy I'm bias lol z for ever |
If you are into kit cars then you might like Superlight. I have a buddy that is planning to purchase one and just took a tour through their garage. It was very impressive.

I am voting against the kit car. It'll cost you more time than you think. Stick with the 370z, titanium internals, and TT. It'll destroy everything out there, if done right.

The smart kit car buyer buys someone else's completed kit car and saves thousands.

I'd rather walk around the track than get anything made by GTM

In that case, one of my testicles is going up on eBay. |

replica..351 Cleveland - Weber 8 stack set up - show paint - roll cage..... The mechanical engineer who sold it spent 4 years building it. I bought and drove it for two years and then sold it for a large return..... |
50k If your damn lucky, if anything else goes wrong with the build your in the hole again, insurance is also going to be a bitch. go with the Z even a nice TT kit or a Bp kit would do you super well without the headaches
|
Go with the Z. That kit will cost you so much in time and money it won't be funny. Plus, if you ever want to sell it getting 1/2 your money back will be a chore.
|
Looks wise, of course the GTM. Here's one that I sponsored when I was with my previous company.

^^^ thats why its sooo hard to pick. Lol |
I'd really sit down and weigh what you want out of a car and which will be most reliable and cost efficient. I've learned some hard lessons to the point it was depressing and still I haven't found my happiness in a car yet. Simplier is so much sweeter (a build that's in the middle of the road).
|
I would just look for one for sale complete or near complete.

I'm not sure there's a way to measure the two cars against each other. Building and owning a GTM is going to be a much different experience than the Nissan. I looked at the GTM pretty closely because my wife wants one. No question it is a slick beast. I think it has maybe one awkward body line, but over-all it's beautiful. I think a decision like this is best made based on the type of experience you want.

Kit car.
It will be worth 10x more when you're done and will no depreciate much if at all. And it's exotic looking. There's a GTM at the cars and coffee I go to. It was for sale and the guy was asking $70,000 US for it. |
Thnx to u all for ur honest opinion, after thinking and debating i have realized that i like driving more than building, so am going to stick with the Z, i just cant let it go and building it will be quicker.
Maybe in the future when GTM V3 comes out ill build it after the Z. |
