What if it is Z35.
We have all talked about the engine but what about the name? I keep hearing it will be called the Z35. I hate it. How do you all feel?

I think it would be called:
Mazinger Z?! |

I'd be OK if the public name was Z35. It would be a hard break from the "Engine displacement + Z" that has been going on since the car's inception, but the important letter is still there and that's all that matters. IMO, Nissan should just call it "Z" and drop the displacement, so they can have fun with the engine builds. I would rather that, then them do something silly, like call it a 390z because their turbo six pot puts out the same power as a NA 3.9L engine. The Germans are guilty of this and with the rumors of Mercedes building the power plant, I could see it happening.

Just as our car is the z34 the next one WILL BE the z35 soo if you don't live in the US it will be called the fairlady z35, if you live in the us it will most likely be the XXXz

I would rather it be called Nissan Fairlady Z, Nissan Z, or Nissan Z Coupe/Nissan Z Roadster.
No one needs engine displacement anymore. |
I was thinking of debadging and relabel fairladyZ
|
BMW & Mercedes use to be class + displacement, but that went out the window a few years ago.

Yah, chassis code should be z35?

I think Fairlady Z would be nice. I mean really who wouldn't like driving a Fairlady home every evening.
I do so love the engine displacement in the name though. Gonna be sad to see it go. Z35, not so much. |

The public name will either just be the Nissan Z in the states (if they do 2 engines so not to cause confusion), and continue using Fairlady Z in the rest of the world. |
Ever since the Z came out, every model had the 'Z' at the end of the displacement number. I'm quite sure the new name will stick to the tradition.
|
Definitely rebadging to Fairlady Z now... lol
Lexus does the engine displacement with their IS series (queue is300 is250 is350) Infiniti (or skyline for non murican) did the g35 and g37 then redesigned to q50 but same 3.7 L (correct me if i'm wrong) Then there was mercedes with their c250/c300 Screw it... they should just rename everything Trueno. /discussion |
toyota's thinking about doing a rwd hatch... since subaru apparently f-ked up the frs.

Desn't matter to me what Nissan decides to call it. If Kate Upton's parents named her Mike, instead of Kate, I'd still like to date her :yum:
