Bad idea, as everyone else has already mentioned.
I'll tell you all a little story for educational purposes (at the expense of my own embarrassment): When I was 16 I revved up my '94 Regal GS a bit in neutral and let her rip. First and last time I ever did that. Luckily, I only snapped the passenger side drive axle in half and was able to pick up a rebuilt one for about $70. That transmission must be some sort of beast, as the axle was at least a half or 3/4" thick and was sheared right off, but the trans never skipped a beat. Nine years and 60,000 miles or so later, she's still my daily "beater" and runs great. Transmission is still smooth as butter. |

Guys that beat their cars are right on up there with wife and girlfriend abusers imo.. |
Others have told you how to launch a 7AT the right way. This was me the third week of January after my car had 500 break-in miles trying to find the right brake-stand rpm to launch from. Make a few practices on a "closed course" and you will get it exactly right with no real harm to the car.

I haven't looked into what makes up a modern-day automatic transmission, but the Sprag would be the first thing to snap if all is the same as I'm used to.
