Which 370z model year is the best?

Hello All! I am new to this page and this happens to be my first post! Well, to get down to the point, I am going to be buying a 370z within with next month or so and I am stumped on which model year to get! I love that the older 370z models are cheap even with the sports package but I also love how the newer 2013+ models look like. Which year do you guys think is the best? Is there big benefits with the newer models? Is it worth it to get a newer one with a lot of miles or and older one with fewer miles? Does the sports package make much of a difference? (PS. I am looking at the automatic models because theres too much traffic here in the OC) Thank you guys!

I guess it depends, I like the older better, I bought the last year which is 2012, I do have Touring and Sport, would not have done it any other way. I love Nismos but they don't come in Touring, so buying one was a huge no, at least for me, matter of taste and needs.
Sports Package has the brakes, wheels, and rev match. If you don't plan on doing aftermarket stuff, I would get it with Sport.
Check them both and see what you like, you can probably get really good deals right now. I do drive a 6-spd, could not do it any other way, but I drive against traffic both ways in OC

i prefer the 2009-2012 facia and wheels.

kenchan 09-03-2014 07:27 PM

actually i prefer the 2009-2012 facia with the nismo wheels.

Thanks Tnav! ITs good to know that other people from the OC are here:hello: Trust me, I would love to get a manual but it's just too much for me. I go to Laguna Beach every day from work and traffic is just insane and it stresses me out when I have to wrry about driving manual too. Ill have to look farther into the touring AND sport models too. Are the speakers in the touring really good?

I gotta admit, I love them fangs too (; I love the nismo rims but Ive seen some pretty fresh vossens on a 370z that made me stare. Big decisions coming up.

Hello, in my opinion, I purchased my '09 just last year because I had to wait til they came down in price (since starting a family/buying a home) for me due to my budget restraints. I constantly was looking at all the models newer than mine to see the differences and what not, but in general they all are great. If you not going to do anything to it and leave it stock, then get the best version you can afford. Either way, you can't really go wrong with this car for the price. I love mine I got to say'

2013 because of original leds :D!

0101 09-04-2014 07:00 AM

09 because it's the cheapest.
Seriously though, 09-12 because of the wheels and fangs look 100000000x better.

I was debating on getting a newer vs older this summer... I settled for what I could find the cheapest. I wanted low mileage + sports pack and ended up getting a 2012. I love the front fangs. I do like the vertical LED and fog-light lamp on the 13+ models but the lack of fangs makes it look like ehhhhh

Since you're aiming at an automatic it may be cheaper (I've seen auto's listed lower than manual's for same year and similiar mileage). I know the older model's had a few qwerks but nothing that can't be fixed. Same engine throughout the entire production run so far. I personally would aim for a 2011+ with the lowest mileage. Most of all, drive the car and see if you truely want it or not!

I'm going to predict that the 2015 Nismo Tech Coupe will be a very desired model. Especially that now you can get it with the automatic transmission with downshift rev matching. They just need to dump the digital clock for something like an oil pressure gage & add a back-up object sensor.

i thought the nismo tech trim comes with rear view camera...? im not real fond of those proximity sensor dots on the rear bumper. :ugh: maybe okay on a suv, but on a sports car? :eekdance:

The rear view camera is great (a wider field of view might be nice) but I'd like the addition of an alarm when the unexpected suddenly appears in the display.
It also gives you an illumination warning when a moving object is in your blind spot.

Generally speaking, the model that you own!

hadokenuh 09-04-2014 11:43 AM

I'd get 2013+

Refreshed, quieter, comes with an OK oil cooler and back up camera.

kenchan 09-04-2014 11:59 AM

+ new bumper and more wheel gap

:iagree: Rode in an 09TouringZ recently with less than 10k miles on the odometer and was pleasantly surprised that my 13 sport z, had a more composed and quieter ride. Personally I like the 13+ bumper better, but that's an individual preference.

Mt Tam I am 09-04-2014 01:59 PM

Lighter weight vs features. A personal preference.

Lol :icon18:

Personal preference. To me it is. Road noise was one of the main reasons I sold my 09 Sport. It started to get annoyed when I daily drove 30 miles each way, everyday.

You could tell me to look at the G37. I did own one before the Z. They feel and drive very different.

Oh man. I'm from Chicago. I wish I would have seen this.

3rdDanZ 09-04-2014 09:58 PM

The 2015's have a-lot faster gears for both models, & the NISMO's finally receive the auto in the U.S, smoother spoiler, faster gears, stripped steering wheel, day-lights, & colored stitching. Definitely the 2015's, by a-long shot! Its suspension has already been revised multiple times for track use.

I think it is a pretty sad statement that these are the things that have been changed. Seriously...what is the real difference between an 09 and 15?

OP, I think all the years are solid cars. I will continue to encourage people to buy used and mod it until it fits you like a glove. That's one of the great things about Zs. Just find a model that has what you -must- have and mod in to the rest like suspension.

And for the record...the 40th is by far the best 370Z by a-long shot. ;)

Get which ever one is comfortably within your budget and a good fit for you.

Then if you find things you want to change - mod it.

Imo the differences among the model years are minor.
