When I was waiting for my case people were dropping like flies. People were lying and acting oblivious to their violations had the book thrown at them. Judges won't fall for that stuff. People that pled no contest w/clean records almost always walked w/just a minimal fine.

I guess we all learn from our own mistakes ;)
from relationships to our trials in life to minor court cases like these after i was off the hook with my case, i hardly hop on the fast lane. i'd hop on the fast lane only to pass someone thats going unreasonably slow for who knows why & to avoid big trucks (hate em!) but yeah basically if the speed limit is 60, best believe im doing 55 now lol GOOD LUCK. |

When I was 19 and living in New Mexico I got a speeding ticket from the state police for 125 in a 55 on I-70. It was a mandatory court appearance. I got a lawyer but she did absolutely nothing for me because not only did I have to pay her I got the maximum fine and court costs.

No big deal at all, until my insurance company found out. That's when the money hit the fan. |
dps, you think calibrating the speedo will matter for a 110mph ticket?
Nope, not in the most obvious way. don't leave anything on the table. Be prepared for anything. It's really at matter of taking it seriously. Show the judge that you put some time and money into your defense. You have to pay, so show them you're paying.

I'm still paying for that ticket. Another 6 months I think before insurance will drop it |

hey frost, how long from the time you got those tickets did your insurance go up? like i said b4 i had 4 tickets last July but i was only charged with 1 violation which is 5 points. i checked my insurance and it hasnt gone up. i hope it doesnt period. my lawyer did say well it might go up minimally or not at all cuz your record was clean prior to this.

I don't know if it'll work after the fact but try calling pre paid legal services, apparently they are pretty worthless for just about anything EXCEPT speeding tickets. According to some people I know they have all skated from wreckless tickets using PPL. Of course they had the service prior to the tickets and just called up when they needed em, but they may allow you to join and work your case after the fact. PM me if you have any interest, I know a couple people who push the service (they bust my balls all the time tryin to get me to join, I tell em bite my ***) but if it can help you should look into it.

I'm with the folks who say check your insurance after your renewal date. Like most folks here, in my younger years I was a bit of a lead-foot as well, and the last of those are getting ready to fall off my record. Many of them weren't noticed until the renewal date and the mandatory record check that the company performed...and in one case, it went a full year before they caught it, but best to work under the assumption that they *will* catch it at some point. It might be when you renew your policy, it might be when you change addresses, it might be when you get a new car and change policies, but it will come up at some point...and if you have too many violations, they may even shuffle you onto a high risk driver program and charge you double for the insurance, if they don't drop you altogether.

To the original poster... There's a time a place for everything. I hate getting tickets too, but I'd say your best bet is to try to get them to drop the charges to an infraction and pay the ticket.
